Looks like this could be a move toward the replacement of their 737-200s as the 200QCs for cargo was an issue in fleet replacement for their overnight interisland cargo operations.

"Aloha has said it has been shopping for new planes to replace the Boeing 737s that it operates in its 27-plane fleet."

I wonder if they are also considering replacing the 737NG's as well. The 27 plane fleet includes 13 737NGs, 10 737-200s and 4 737-200QCs.

It seems like they maybe selling off their profitable operations to get some money. Remember, Zander did say Island Air was barely profitable, but still profitable. Cargo was what kept them profitable during the 1990s while the interisland pax market shrunk. Their contact service operations handle so many airlines, TZ, CI, UA, AC, CO, NA, OAI, KE, etc., and that's just at HNL. They also handle other airlines at LIH, OGG, and KOA.

I doubt that they are looking to replace the NGs. They are on long term leases and apparently fit well in their transpac ops.
