This article appeared in a local paper here in TX.

FORT WORTH -- American Airlines plans to recall 600 flight attendants this fall as the airline boosts international flights, American executives said Tuesday.

Furloughed attendants will begin getting called back on Nov. 17, according to an airline spokesman. The positions will primarily be at American's bases in Boston, St. Louis, Washington, D.C. and LaGuardia Airport in New York.

The recall is the largest single call-back of American employees since last year's concessions deal was approved by the airline's unions. That agreement resulted in thousands of layoffs.

Looking at the seniority numbers, I would guess that former TWA F/A´s could actually start coming back during the next recall of F/A´s.

Aacun,
How do you figure that?
I am curios to know what the formula is for the TWA and AA employees. I know that the AA employees(even if they only have 2 years seniority) would bitch to high heaven if they an employee of TWA get taken back before them.,
If anybody know how this is done I'de appreciate knowing it!

Ramerinianair,

Im not sure of the pilots. But with F/A´s the all have the same seniority date. Their date of hire was negotiated and is the same for all TWA´s F/A´s. And the seniority date of the last person recalled this time around is getting really close to the seniority date of the TWA F/A´s. So I would guess that the next time around, it will probably get to touch former TransWorld flight attendants. Hopefully, there are some that are willing and able to come back to fly. I know there are a lot of great employees that came with TWA.

Within those TWA flight attendants who all have that April 9, 2001 seniority date (I believe it is), how are they ordered? Was it by their seniority with TWA? I know most newhires in classes that all receive the same seniority date are ordered within that day by social security number or birthday or another airline-specific method. If it's by TWA seniority within that date, I wonder how many of the most senior TWA flight attendants (in their 70s age-wise) would come back. I bet they'd have to go down the list a ways to find somebody willing to come back with crappy seniority after this long into retirement/another job.

The TWA flight attendants have a seniority date of April 10, 2001. Their seniority list was added to the AA seniority list on that day, therefore, the TWA flight attendants seniority order is how it was at TWA. Same with the QQ flight attendants, who have a seniority date of August 31, 1999.

FYI, this latest recal goes back to the class date of March 22, 2001. So, seniority wise, we are within 18 days of the TWA flight attendants. Most certainly the next recall will include TWA flight attendants, unless the recall is small in numbers.

JAX,
I would assume it was just tranferred to AA in the same order it had at TWA. So the num 1 F/A there is the first former TWA flight attendant. But youre right, Im afraid not many of them will want to come back to flying this late in the game. Its been a while since the layoff. And I´ve heard that not all the F/A´s that have been offerred the call back have actually taken it. Actually, the number has been low as far as I know.

1 in 4 flight attendants offered a recall decline. This is from the company's announcement to flight attendants about the recall.

The last group of TWA flight attendants furloughed were furloughed June 30, 2003.

So, based on 1/4 declining, that means that after all is said and done they'll need another 150 or so FAs? That'll hopefully take them into the TW folks.

I read elsewhere that they built this figure into the amount of recall notices sent.

According to the local media here at STL, no TW F/As are included. They are also no TW F/As working for AA.
