Starting with aircraft 128 and 129 in late October, THIRTEEN 757-200's will be converted to the 16/156-seat configuration by August 2005. As announced eleven of the BusinessFirst 757's will have the winglets added for extended range beginning in April 2005 with ship 105.

Looks like Continental will defiantly be the King of the 757 transatlantic.

Using 757s transatlantic is a very smart move-economically speaking, perfect example of matching seats with demand. I wouldn't mind flying one transatlantic as its probably alot like flying 707s and DC8s of yore (before my time). Of course I'd prefer a widebody-but I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid a transatlantic 757.

will they be configured 2-3 or 2-2 seats across?

They are currently flying. BizFirst is 2-2 while coach is 3-3.
I would like to remind everyone that the BizFirst seats are the same ones on the CO 767's. Also the seat room and pitch is just about the same as on the "Widebodies" you guys love so much. I would think that for a passenger in their seats the ride is no different.

2-2 like all the other BusinessFirst 757s. I don't understand why the don't put the new fully reclining BusinessFirst seats in the 767s and 757s. Why only the 777s? I'm sure they'd be able to squeeze them in, because they take up the same amount of space as the "old" BusinessFirst seats.

All in due time, remember you have to take the A/C out of rotation and also its very $$$$$ to get the new seats. But the word is soon we will see the start to be installed on the other BF aircraft

A few weeks ago, I flew a CO 757 from MCO-EWR. Though I was not surprised I got upgraded to first, I was surprised the plane was in a Business First configuration. The seats were very comfortable, plenty of legroom, foot rest, etc.

Flying to LIS on 11/4 --- any ideas what my experience will be like?

any IFE or what are chances to be upgraded to first?

Any help out there would be appreciated.

Boeing bus- there are PTV's in F, in Y it is drop down overhead screens. I didn't use the PTV's because they were not available from MCO-EWR (probably wouldn't have used them on such a short flight).

I don't know about being upgraded to first on an international fight. I know NW/CO offer unlimited upgrades in the US. I've never been upgraded on an international flight unless I the fare I purchased was full fare.

Will these aircraft also recieve the 757 winglet package that CO ordered? It seems logical to put winglets on the aircraft performing the longest stages, espeically trans-Atlantic ops....

It would be nice if Continental fitted the 757s with seatback IFE ala 76s/77s; however I don't care for the IFE box under the seat.

The winglets will be on the BF (75B) aircraft only at first. Depending on the performance it may be applied to the entire 757 fleet but that is many years down the road.

Didn't CO turn a few of their BF-configured 757's into regular FC 757's a few years ago? I may be totally off-base here, but I seem to remember such a thing happening.

BoeingBus,

A free upgrade to BF is pretty much out of the question unless the flight is oversold and you're CO/NW elite. You can purchase upgrades (10Kmiles/segment from a full Y fare to Europe, or 20K miles + service fee on other fares). The service fee runs up to $400 on the most discounted fares. I regularly fly EWR-EDI/BHX on the 757, and regardless of whether you're in J or Y, CO transatlantic should be a good flight. Try for row 16 if you can get it...full recline and extra legroom

not a surprising move............with the addition of 6 new Trans-atlantic flights we all new they had to be 757's with our lack of widebody equip.

There's no way Lagos could be with a 757. No way. CLE-LGW, and EWR-OSL are not quite pushing the limit of that aircraft, but it's stretching it, that's for sure. EWR-LOS would have to be a 767 or a 777.

obviosly LOS is not a 757, but if we add 6 new flights the majority will be 757s

Is service from CLE to LGW THAT low that a major U.S. city like Cleveland can't even fill a 762 or 764 to one of the largest cities like London? I still can't believe that the load factor is that low that they use a 757.

we can fill a 762 from CLE to LGW..........in the back........but what makes a successful international route relies heavilyon the first class product adn we can fill a 757 with 16.....but a 762 carries 25 first class seats..........i think a 76H would work nice during the summer gives 4 more first class and a large number of coach seats.

28 Iahcsr : There are no Winglet-ed 757s ..Yet. CO will be the test program for the project. CO 75B is 16/156, 762 is 25/149. 172/174

30 Iahcsr : Ah. Is that what 134's doing up in YXX (had to look that one up... Abbotsford, BC).
31 Post contains images Lt-AWACS : BoeingBus (a bit off topic but relevant to his question) for what it is worth I got a free upgrade to Biz class on a recent CO flight (#20) from Newar
