A couple of questions for u to answer

1) What is the likely chance that the schedules for summer 2005 will be the same as summer 2004?

2) Out Of Bristol, Gatwick & Stansted, which is the most likely that a A319 will go to PRG?

Any opinions will be great, cheers?

The 2005 summer schedule will not be the same as the Summer 2004. Lots of new routes and destinations are being added.

In fact, between now and next march, the following routes are being added:

London Gatwick

31/10/04 Rome and Venice
28/01/05 Cork, Knock and Shannon
01/03/05 Valencia and Almeria

London Stansted

31/10/04 Tallinn
03/11/04 Valencia
11/11/04 Almeria

Bristol

31/10/04 Budapest, Rome and Madrid
03/11/04 Valencia
15/12/04 Geneva

Most LGW flights will be A319 next year, although i'm not sure about the other two, i think Liverpool was supposed to be the next to get A319's.

If they have more aircraft available for Summer 2005, then logic dictates more flights.

I would like to see new destinations such as VLC growing to twice daily from LGW, and the return of LGW-MAD as twice daily.

I also think that most growth will be at LGW and not STN, because LGW does not have FR to compete with that STN does.

Yes, but at Gatwick they have British Airways to compete with. Bare in mind that a lot of people who pass through Gatwick are on business, and a lot of business travellers don't actually pay for their travel themselves, so they are more likely to want to go on BA. Also, because Ryanair serves different airports, it is likely that BA is a stronger competitor than Ryanair, in thinking that easyJet actually serves airports, rather than Ryanair, who fly to any old field in the middle of no where  Big grin

They certainly don't pay for the travel themselves but you can rest assured that corporations tend to have a pretty robust predefined travel policy which dictates what airlines their staff can fly on. If it's a cost-conscious policy then the cheapest is whats taken. If its employee conscious then there's normally a bit of leeway in terms of travellers comfort.

No thats not quite accurate.  Smile

In the past they went BA because there was no option. Now that option is there. In the past (pre 9/11) the corporations were making money. Now few of them are. The industry is much more cost conscious - if BA is £400 at 1200 and U2 is £150 25 mins later, they will in most cases be forced (by way of company policy) to go by the cheapest method. The logic being its cheaper to book the EasyJet option and change it 10 times before even coming close to the cost of the BA ticket.

Even to the further edges of Europe, company polices sometimes insist the traveller flies on an indirect route if the cost is much lower and the total time from A to B is increased only by a couple of hours. For example BA charge around £740 LON-MOW on a fully flex economy ticket. OK charge £496 for the same journey with a plane change in PRG. The whole trip lasts around an hour longer. The company makes the traveller take the cheapest option.

Of course I'm basing this on intra-european routes, long haul is a different matter. ANd I know some corporations allow the traveller to fly on whoever they want, but these are very much the exception to the rule.

And on BA, the traveller would get a snack and a drink or two "inclusive," so the corperation would take into account, that if they are sending him/her off for a meeting and the flight is early in the morning then a snack and a cuppa on the flight would result in that person being more awake/alert etc when he gets there. It may not be the case always, however that's why some people my dad knows travel BA on that route rather than easyJet.

Btw, LGW-BCN-LGW flights are all A319's now on easyJet, subject to last minute equipment changes.

I see your logic in thinking that way, and I'm not disagreeing with you, but I work in the industry, and am speaking from experience. And you're basing your pricing on lead-in fares and these need advance purchase. Business travellers tend not to book far enough in advance to benefit from the low BA fares you mention, so that really wasn't an apple for apple comparison.

Anyway, my preference is for current winter destinations to increase to twice daily from LGW for next summer and stay at twice daily for Winter 2006.
Destinations like BUD, VLC, MAD and CGN.
