Virgin Atlantic is delighted to announce the introduction of double suites for passengers traveling in the award winning Upper Class Suite. The airline has fitted four pairs of double suites onto two of its Boeing 747-400 aircraft, giving passengers traveling together two square meters of space so that they can enjoy their flight closer together.

What, no privacy partition???

A practical question for someone who may know the answer:
The upper class suite in the middle of the 744, the seats face away from each other with a wall in the middle. From what the article states, the F/A simply removes the wall? Also, in the herringbone pattern, if passengers are seated "next" to each other, they are actually behind ther traveling companion.

How did they overcome this? Does anyone have pictures they can share?

I'm sure everyone is very curious..as am I.

From the comment above, with this VS announcement, "in the herringbone pattern" will take on a whole new meaning.

Its just another Virgin publicity stunt.

How can one airline throw out so much hype.

As someone who flies LON-NYC every month I can honestly say that apart from bright colours and a utility bag (in economy) VS is no better than UA or any of the others.

in fact VS is in someways worse, even on a recent premium economy flight the A/c was full of screaming kids and once a year loud flyers who drink and talk to much at 3am.

I wouldnt care but there not even cheaper than the others and their FF program sucks big dry lumps.

Try changing your flight, apart from NY there a one trick pony on most routes.

So far in 2008 45 flights and Gold already. JFK, IAD, LGA, SIN, HKG, NRT, AKL, PPT, LAX still to book ! Home Airport LCY

Stargold LHR- what are you on about. The Virgin FF is one of the most generous out there. Rewards with loads of other airlines plus their own, plus the easiness of earning a free flight.

VS and BA are far better than any of the American carriers and as for Virgin's new idea about double suites - good on them for being a little innovative

I agree, VS AND BA are in a league of their own, compared to any American carrier.
