One of Freedom Air's 733's ZK-FDM overshot the runway at MEL this morning. I am trying to find the link for you, but haven't had any luck. We have sent someone over to assess the damage. More updates as I get them.

Regards

I saw it on a local news here, but I couldn't find any link on the internet. Tried news.com.au and smh.com.au, but found nothing on this. Hope someone could find it.....

AK

An article on www.nzherald.co.nz

Upshot is that wheels sunk into tarmac at end of runway where it was not intended to take an aircrafts weight - this before the aircraft was due to take off....

Apparently the pilot lost coordination, and was swerving on the taxiway. That was what the local news here in Australia said...

Thanks RupesNZ for the link  Smile

Tonights news have said that the pilots have been stood down while an inquiry is being done. The aircraft was operating SJ324 to HLZ

Stood down- Does that mean suspended or expelled in schoolboy terms?

Apparently the aircraft was out by 2:50pm. They used a similar method to how you would un bog a car.
