After the success of the Iran Air 747SP charter, there's another exotic aircraft to fly on courtesy of Air Events, this time a Donbassaero Yak 42. Like before, the flight will operate from Cologne in the early afternoon of October 30 (a Saturday this time). Fares are €99 (or €139 for a confirmed window seat). I've never flown on a Russian airliner before so this should be awesome.

Hope to make it! I will arr. AMS on Friday 29 OCT (hopefully on a LOT Embraer 170). Unfortunately my plans for the weekend have not been sorted out yet,
but really hope to make it to Cologne on that Saturday.
Anybody else from the AMS (I will be in The Hague) area interested, maybe fill a car an drive to CGN?
Another great airevent opportunity!
All the best, Michael

Hey Guys,
I am really thinking about taking part in that flight. The aircraft is very rare and it would be a great opportunity for a little A.net meeting at CGN. The last one was really good.

Yep. I'm booked. What I really (really) want is an Il62, but like I said earlier, I've never been on any Russian aircraft so this is very exotic for me. Since this aircraft is much smaller than the Iranair 747SP, you guys should book up soon, I really enjoyed the IR SP and meeting y'all and the more of you who make it to this flight, the better.
See you at that round bar next to the gate in Cologne - again!

@Cedarjet
Did you already book your flight to and from CGN? If yes, when do you arrive and depart? I would like to meet you all again, however, brons2 won't join us this time.

Just my luck!
Please please organise another next year boys! (if this one is successful that is) Danke schoen!

Mr T Master, and DTManiac: I haven't booked my flights to CGN, but I'll probably go BA this time (although Germanwings were perfectly good last time). My work colleague is having a Halloween party the very same night so I won't be staying over in CGN (good idea though), indeed probably will have to keep mostly clear of the beer this time if I'm going to make it to the party. There might be goth chicks so I need to keep my shit together. OK OK a sailor's allowance at the bar and that's it (a "sailor's allowance" - which sounds a bit gay - is actually three cans of lager, apparently it's what they're allowed per day in the Royal Navy).

No, but I think I will join you on the YAK. Did you take a window seat? I find it a little too expensive for me, however, there will be only one aisle so I won't be too far from a window either.
By the way does anyone have a seatmap of this airplane? Is it 3-3 or 2-3 like the BAE146?
Cedarjet, it is sad that you have to leave so early, otherwise we could have some more beers at the bar.

Ok ,
my plan at the moment is to fly down from GOT-CGN on sat morn if possible and then back up to GOT some time Sat PM if no one is going to Nightstop at the bar.
Are there any direct flights between the two????

@ Tugmaster
Amadeus shows no direct flights between GOT and CGN. You have to go through FRA, MUC, AMS etc. . I would stay at the bar for longer, lets see if we can get some more A.netters to join us.

Petertenthije, thanks but...
As feared I already have plans that Saturday. I am ending my posting in Palestine/Israel on the 29OCT so some people want to welcome me back to Europe on the Saturday. Nice of them of course, BUT
Anyway, sure there is more to come, and if you look in my profile I already booked 4 new types (for me, that is) before the end of the year. The next being Hemus TU154 TLV-VAR next Thursday, so I guess I should not complain
Hope you will enjoy, all the best Michael
See you on the B741, IL62M, AN74, IL18 etc.. flight in the coming years (I hope).
Peter, if you are in for two-three day spotting tours now and then, fell free to get in touch. I have car as well, and I have BRU, LGG, LUX, CDG, the two German museums Speyer and Sinsheim on my schedule in the near future.

Hey guys,
it looks bad at the moment. I booked, too, but we still do not seem to have enough enthusiasts to take this rare opportunity. It would be a pity. The decision will be made tomorrow according to the website.
Let's all hope that this flight will take place and there will be a really good day at CGN.

Oh ! I didn't get the email yet but sad... Pity. I will have to go to CGN anyway as I will fly to PMI with Air Berlin from CGN that evening. Maybe we can have a mini meeting with the people who have confirmed uncancelable flights already?
