I found this article on the Japan Times Online and thought I'd mention it since there's been a lot of questions and some discussion on the new Central Japan International Airport (Chubu) opening near Nagoya in February of next year.

In a nutshell, it's about the airport's possible impact on Kansai and it I thought it did a good job of summing up Chubu's advantages and its details. Some things I found interesting was that the airport is 100 billion yen under budget and will have more flights total than Kansai (because KIX has to share the Osaka market with Itami). Chubu's main advantage is that it will cost much less to use than Kansai. Chubu has focused on keeping costs low so less will be passed onto the airlines. This is definitely not good news for Kansai.
