hmm its about mid october so i really dont know why anyone would go to Bulgaria just for frun at that time. too cold for the sea but still to early for sking in the montains.
but anyways. this summer i want to Borgas (sunny beach) and i realized that the BOJ runaway is about 500m away from the sunny beach Borgas road. there will be some land there but if u stop with a car no one should bother you.
In BG people are not so obsessed with terrorism as in the US and i belive Israel. Basically if a cop stops you its beacuse u have done something stupid. if you can explain what you were doing maybe they will undersatnd you(use woulds like hobby and internet) but in the end u probablly have to pay a little "fine" because you are foreign. (sorry to tell you but thats how it works unless u drive a car above 50Gs)
I have gotten up cloase to 2 Tu-154 and Plovdiv but that probably requires you to have good Bulgarian and to know someone at the airport.
But anyways have fun in BG. Try and go see the Sunny beach, nessebar and Sozopl. the drive from Varna to Borgas is about 1.5 hours.
hvae fun and contact me if u want for anything else

MNeo, the fun of the trip for me is the flight Hemus TU154! In regards to coming close, my Bulgarian is not that good (non existent) so I will just stay at the end of the runway and take a few pictures.
As said I will visit BOJ and VAR any idea about traffic? is there a viewing terrace (landside) either place?
Are there any smaller fields worth visiting in the area? I am into Helicopters, everything with a Jet engine and props with at least two engines.
It takes courage to push things forward . . (Mo Mowlam)

I took a day trip from SOF to Varna (on the then-new LZ AT4) a few years ago to watch the aircraft at Varna. It was good! Numerous TU5s, but then it was summer. From the terminal, there were steps leading to a rooftop area from where you could easily see the runway and some of the ramps. There was a restaurant there, too. I'm not sure if it still exists, though.

During the summer its great. Check out the pics you can see there's a balcony at the airport plus you could go by the end of the runway. BOJ probably has a little more traffic. In BOJ and VAR police aren't as strict however in Sofia it's not the same story. Many different planes come and go. 134s, 154s, Yak-40, -42, Antonovs, Il-86 An-124 Boeings Airbuses all kinda stuff during summer.
