I haven't noticed any rumor about selling planes anywhere here, but maybe I have missed something.

What might be the new routes the article mentions?

Maybe that will help. Anyway...it's bold, but it beats shrinking yourself into oblivion. It'll either pull US through or let them go out with a bang.

If they have no plans to sell any aircraft, why did they ask the bk judge for permission to do so?

He granted them that permission.

Well, somehow the 'h' is missing at the beginning.

The press release says US is not selling any aircraft currently in the fleet but I have heard they are trying to work out a deal to sell 734's to Fedex. Not sure if those 734 are from the desert or not but that would explain why they sought premission from the judge to sell planes

LV:

That shouldn't be an issue here. The judge allowed US Airways to reduce the mainline fleet number, thus, effectively, freeing US from certain scope clauses in the pilot contract.

If the aircraft are already in the desert, there is no barrier to US selling them.

The pilots' (and others') contract required 279 planes operated at 10 hours a day. The court granted relief from this provision. It doesn't necessarily mean US will sell planes; but, as an example, it does mean they can now reduce European flying for the winter, when the flights are not profitable.

I love long German words like 'Freundschaftsbezeigungen'.
