Gomel / Belarus
could be the city/airport

GML is used for Gomel/Belarus but also for Gimli/Canada and Guamal/Colombia.
This coding is not really correct but it is used by some reservation systems. With an Antonov into Prague it is most likely then "Gomel" in Belarus.

GML = Gomel, Belarus.

UMGG - Rwy 11/29 = 2570m X 43m
Elev. 472 ft.

No problem for the AN-124 !

By the way, when was the Baghdad airport code officially changed to BGW? I don't think anyone expected SDA (Saddam International Airport) to stay, but any reasoning with BGW? What does the "W" stand for (if anything at all!)?

Thanks!!

BGW = Baghdad at War  Nuts

GML = Kiev-Gostomel (UKKM), the home airport of the Antonov Aircraft Factory

Baghdad is served by two airports.

I think BGW is the code for the city of Baghdad, and used for Baghdad-Al Muthana airport.

SDA is the code for Baghdad-Saddam Hussein International Airport...
like LON = London but LHR = Heathrow & LGW = Gatwick

Thanks DC-10 Levo. Have been trying to find a site like that. Now I can talk just like you smart guys do. ha ha.. By the way I live in Long Beach CA. USA and about 5 miles from the old Douglas plant (now Boeing) and still miss driving up Lakewood Blvd. and seeing on the right the dazzling silver DC-10's just rolled out for final and paint and to the left often as many as 10-12 in their glorious new livery from countries all over the globe. Guess I'm weird, but I swear I could sense their tension and eagerness to roll out to the runway and claw their way into the sky. Cheers Mate!

LON is not exactly LHR and LGW, but also LTN and LCY...

Sorry, many people couldn't resist writing stuff, this time it was me...
