From what I read in the press :

- Australia flights will start once more widebodies come (more like 2006). They will be one stop service through BKK or SIN.

- They are looking for A330s to lease before the ordered ones can be delivered. The two new N. American destinations will be IAD and YYZ the summer of 2005.

- The IST-BKK-SIN flights will be split in two with daily BKK service and a non-stop IST-SIN.

- The frequency will be increased in Beijing and Shangai flights.

TK were supposed to fly 3 weekly A 343s to YYZ from May 2004 but it never came about due to some problem after another.

I hope their Aussie flights are routed via BKK or KUL as SIN has way too much capacity and airlines flying the SIN-AUST-SIN routes.

Smart move in increasing PEK and PVG flights...their A 332s have the ability to fly IST-CHINA-IST nonstop right?

IAD should ok with them...expect a lot of DEL originating pax on the IAD flights of theirs as well as high level Arab diplomats whose only choice to IAD is Saudia these days or the European airlines via their hub cities.

When is BOM expected to begin? Is it even considered in the pipeline for the future?

If to MEL, i would highly recommend services operate via BKK.

Big growth in the market in both directions, and yet only TG serving the sector with old MD11 and B747 equipment.

There is a large Turkish community in MEL, and Turkey is a very popular holiday destination for Australians.

TK could also provide additional coupons to Australian travellers wishing to travel elsewhere in Europe.

TK has an excellent European network...

THY's longhaul workhouse is the 343 for the moment.

TK could fly very easily its A332 from IST to China :

IST-PVG = 4345 nm
IST-PEK = 3828 nm

Air France was recently operating its A332 on CDG-GIG (4946nm) and CDG-KIX (5210nm)...

The A332 can fly 6750nm with full passenger playload (source = AIRBUS)
It gives a lot of possibilities of nonstop lights to TK from IST :

IST-SIN = 4681nm
IST-YYZ = 4439nm
IST-ORD = 4771nm
IST-MNL = 4940nm
IST-LAX = 5971nm

I like TK more every time I fly with them, they´re really doing a good job and I´m glad they are expanding. My only long haul flight with them was Istanbul-Bangkok v.v. in Business Class, in the A340-300. Excellent!

I flew them LHR-IST-LHR two weeks ago. Was flying on UA until LHR and purchased the ticket online for 198 pounds through their website. Overall it cost me less than $1000 from SEA all the way to IST. United wanted $1800 for SEA-ORD-FRA-IST and back.

They 737-800 had probably 10 seats empty and the leg room was horrible on the LHR-IST flight. The return was on a Monday morning with lots of people taking the weekend off for a trip to IST. They aircraft was one of the original A310-300s and it looked perfectly clean inside. This time the flight had no open seat, not even in business class.

The boarding in LHR was done by AA agents and it showed; they did the boarding by seat numbers.

Too bad that they didn't show a movie on neither of the flights. Just some CNN-Turk news thing..

What I knew 3 x A330-200 (Leased from LH for 3 years) will be joining TK fleet at the early of December.

I got the news from a Turkish daily (Hurriyet). There is an aviation section every Sunday put together by the same guy who produces an aviation show titled "Kokpit" for a Turkish TV. (I figured the title didn't need a translation)  Smile

the South African route was cancelled after Sep. 11 I think. That route and MIA didn't produce enough $$$. THY started the route with A310 and served it with A340 later on.
