It would be a very popular, money making route or is there somesort of deal with their partner JL. Also I want to know why GF & QR serve this popular destination. It's one market that has not been prized open (yet)

It seems like EK concentrates more on Europe, Middle East, India and Pakistan.

They have recently starting flying to other destinations. I'm sure they will start NRT as and when they have aircrafts available.

Actually its only because there are no slots available in NRT currently.

what about haneda, does it have a runway to allow a 772 or a345 to land. (it should as it was the old international airport)

SQNo1, Tokyo/Haneda is used solely for domestic flights. There are some regional services from South Korea too (I think). Recently authorities wanted to allow the aiport to accept international charter flights but that was refuted.

I was wondering the same when I saw their route map lately and I think QR332 is correct, there are no slots available, otherwise they had open up at last a daily flight.

Horus is correct, HND is mostly for domestic traffic, I think that a few CI flights from Taiwan are arriving there too.

EK need the longer runway to be able to conduct flights. From what I have heard they can get a slot on the shorter runway, but it will be too short for them to take off without making massive sacrefices making it virtually unprofitable. Also due to Japanese laws NRT is having trouble extending the second runway as the farmers surrounding the airport do no have to give up their land.

NRT is a prime destination, but even if Emirates get the rights, it will be hard to get the slots, especially at prime hours.

China Airlines no longer flew into Haenda, and was transferred to Narita last year.

China Airlines and EVA Air from Taiwan both fly into NRT now with more frequencies. I used to love them parking at the int'l gates. But now we see OZ and KE coming in daily (scheduled flights)

KIX was their point of entry into Japan

One thing that they confuse me is why did they down-size the AC from the A345 to A343. Maybe not enough pax?

haneda will soon be seeing an expansion of Int Flights to ease congestion at NRT. also HND is capable of handling Longhaul if needed.
