There was a time when I used to love flying to and from Heathrow. It was always so exciting. Yesterday however, for the first time in 4 years, I transferred there from Air Canada to BMI to BHD. What a dreadful experience? I arrived in terminal 3, after finally getting hooked up to a gate, and it was like a war zone. I finally found the flight connections centre, after being directed to queue for gates 53/55 for a flight to China I believe by some moron supposedly trying to sort the two queues - I ad to ask another passenger if it was for the FCC, and it wasnt! (I also noticed several passengers from my flight and many more with AC boarding passes so imagine how long they were held up!). After the wretched bus from T3 tp T1, and a total of about 4 seconds fresh air between since Toronto, I got to the cramped, claustrophobic and stuffy bmi Belfast lounge at T1, where the flight was delayed for nearly 2 hours, with VERY few announcements about this, and boarding was a sham. This is probably not the correct thread either, but I was extremely disappointed with BMI. I was expecting a superior service, but frankly they were poor compared to BA and even easyJet. Very cramped also, as bad as a charter flight. Surly cabin staff, apart from one guy who I saw being pleasant to a couple of spoilt brats across the aisle. There also seemed to be six or seven crew serving us on the A321, not counting the many FAs seated in the business cabin. The grim weather and jetlag did not help my mood, granted, but over all a bitter experince. I am dreading returning next week, and give me CDG any day!

I have connected at LHR many times, and while it is certainly not the most user friendly airport in the world, I found the Flight Connections Center quite easy to use although I could live without the bus transfers. I am not certain which portion of LHR is under construction at the moment (they are always pulling something apart) but, to me, it seems that the construction can make LHR a very difficult airport to negotiate....you gotta follow those signs.
As for BMI, it seems that you just had a bad flight with an unfriendly crew....I am not making excuses for BMI, but that can happen. BMI's service is gnerally not bad, although I agree that, for some reason, their A321s seem very crowded.
Being that BMI and AC are both STAR alliance members, one would think that they could have done a far better job making your travel experience seemless and easy - thats what alliances are supposed to be all about. I find that very disappointing. Better luck next time!
