I have just heard that Malaysia Airlines will be introducing new uniforms for its cabin crew and ground staff following the introduction of its new First and Golden Club Class products.
The lovely girls will remain in kebaya (as they should) whilst I cannot wait to see the guys dispose of their horrid green blazers. New colours will be introduced too and judging by the red/blue cabins soon to be launched - I expect we will be seeing more MAS girls in a more striking red-based kebaya (I hope). I expect blue kebayas would look too much like its neighbour's Singapore girls - although MAS' original uniform was in fact that very kebaya now worn by SQ (when they were MSA!).
Apparently their new 777s to be delivered with the new cabins will also feature a special livery - not too sure about that as MAS is quite miser when it comes to splashing (excuse the pun) out on new colours.
Nevertheless - its great to see MAS updating its image. Those new boarding passes look purty smart - especially the nice red ones in First.

I surely hope they won't ruin the kebaya's, it is a classic and part of the identity of the airline. The men's uniform on the other hand is another story... as we all know.
I noticed the new boarding passses on my last trip in September, and also they seem to have new safety videos? The infamous 747 captain seems to have gone....

Gosh - how I am gonna 'miss' the cheesy captain... maybe they HAVE replaced him with "Hi! I'm Troy McClure. You may have seen me in films such as 'Airplane'...welcome aboard Malaysia Airlines."

I had the new boarding passes a few weeks ago. The new safety video has been around since mid 2003, and they certainly do not feature the "cheesy" looking captain
Welcome to my starry one world alliance, a team in the sky!

The cheesy captain was only on the 744 safety videos, he was still on in June/July this year when I went to Europe, but was gone in September when I flew to Malaysia
For all the MAS cheesy captain fans!

FAB Chrisrad! That's the joker... he could really use a good dentist!
MAS is really trying hard to smarten its image and judging by its new ads - seems like they've got some 'queer eye' type equivalent makeover going on...

Well it was about time for them to move from the 1990's to the 21st century, I think the male flight attendant uniforms need a "queer eye" makeover!!!!

The green jackets are going I think (thank the lord) and word has it that they are going to get kitted out by Gucci - but with MAS continuing to be a government concern - the bureaucracy is stupendous.
Frankly - I am surprised these ads ever made out of KL without being 'blacked out' with a marker pen - just to show perhaps they are Going Beyond Expectations!!!
Have a look at some of the other ads and there is definitely a 'queer eye' thing going - one (advertising their interactive games on board) even features a businessman with the tag-line 'I HAD a guy...' etc...

Thanks Chrisrad. That was a great corporate video.
I can see that MAS management is trying very hard to brush up their image as MAS has always been the underdog to the neighbouring Singapore's national airline.
I hope that MAS will come up with a better corporate identity. New colours, uniforms, and logo. Though I think the kite will remain.

That video makes me glad I opted to book MAS over Christmas! I can't wait to spend 20 hours in the air with them.

Chrisrad,
This will indeed be my first time on Malaysian. I have flown almost every major airline in Asia except MH, so I am looking forward to it. I opted for MH over EK, SQ, and CX(my current favorite airline), I for one have full faith in them. I have spent too many hours in the last three years on US & European airlines. I need to remember what flying really is like!
