AAI used to publish an information booklet for use by ATC and emergency services. Not sure if they still do it, but it was by far the most comprehensive (alas not particularly accurate) airport timetable for Mumbai.

Let AAI learn a lesson from Cochin. Now that is one smart airport (atleast by Indian Standards!)

Cochin is the model for all Indian airports. Hopefully AAI will mimick it where possible.

How many domestic movements does BOM see daily? Isn't Jet the dominant domestic carrier at Mumbai? It appears that there are nearly 75 daily 9W departures. Does IC match those?

IC has a better reach overall from a national perspective. But on all metro routes, 9W has a better presence than IC, flight for flight.

BOM-BLR -> IC4/5 flights, 9W-7 flights. BOM-COK, IC 1 (dedicated) flight, 9W-4.
And so on. The only exception is BOM-DEL-BOM where IC has close to 14/16 daily flights now in all. So yes, 9W should be the dominant carrier in BOM. Pity they have to operate out of such a dumpy terminal which they share with the pvt carriers! the IC terminal is superb in comparison!

Underutilized? with 43 airbuses coming in next year onwards, I think they will be the ones looking for additional space!

Currently when I walk thru the 1A Terminal or on the Tarmec, its hauntingly unutilized.
Yes IF the 43 Planned aircraft arrive then we would see things crowding up.
But these IAC fleet expansion has been comming for a long time now,I'll believe when I see them on the Tarmec.
The problem of space would be on the Tarmec & not in the Terminal.
Theres no place available at the Domestic tarmec at night that One Alliance Air B732 needs to be towed back & forth from their Mx hangar & positioned for departure. One bay reserved for VIP Aircraft & the last utilized by Blue Dart for their Four Transiting Aircraft. The rest are all occupied.

HAWK: u seem to know quite a bit about BOM!!

So whats the deal with the terminal on the southern side of RWY09/27? I see some cargo aircraft parked there sometimes so I assumed that was it! What is it exactly?

As for VIP aircraft: do they come into the IC part of the tarmac? Why cant they be sent in to Juhu? Or the part of the airport reserved for the Air Force?

I wouldn't say I know a lot of Bom Airport,But yes I work out here.
On the Facing South direction [Airworks side][or Old airport as its reffered to] there are parking bays for Private Aircraft & a few helicopters,a few VIP aircrafts do long park there after dropping off the VIP at the Domestic terminal.

Where as VIP Aircrafts especially the IAF B732s or VIPs of Foreign orginasations park at the Domestic Terminal & then the VIPs are escorted out thru the VIP Longue at the Domestic terminal.
BTW Vijay Maliya parks his private B727 on the VIP bay at times too.The guy travel in style with good looking company too. Some guys have all the luck  Smile

International Cargo Airlines park at the International terminal side at the Cargo section.

Juhu Airport runway is too short to accomodate these larger Aircraft, besides its not well developed, apart from the Pawan Hans side.If you've been there you'd notice that security needs to be strengthened.

Its sad that Mumbai Airports can be much better if there is less political interference & more willingness.

I saw three stray dogs on their runway once.

I suggest they should develop it into a business airport for private planes-vip crafts and perhaps for all other turboprop planes.
It really needs to be maintained and further developed effeciently after all it was from where mumbais first aircraft took off a long time ago

From what I remember from my last visit, Juhu seems to have atleast 2 usable runways, and 3 "roads" that look like they were runways previously since they run from nowhere to nowhere!

Atleast one of them looks like it is atleast 4000 feet, enough for Dornier/ATR type aircraft. Atleast the State Govt transports and the King Air type traffic can be made to use that airfield. That should free up atleast a couple of bays in the IC terminal which otherwise has to be reserved.

Roy...The smaller planes ie ATR72s & CRJs use A2 parking at the Domestic Terminal which has smaller spacing,Whereas A1 & A3 are used by B737s.The IC side has parallel bays to hold B737s & A320s.
Only the A2 bays are Taxiout bays, the rest all need Pushback.
The Old Airport bays are used for Private jets & State Govt aircrafts.Yes these aircrafts can land at Juhu Airport if its developed. But Old Airport has no parking problem.

I saw three stray dogs on their runway once.
Karan.....I see Stray dogs on my Every Night shift roaming the bays especially the IAC part of the Tarmec & at times on Taxitrack Delta.
When I have our Aircraft taxing in I'm worried most of the time,to avoid a "DogHit",although the dogs seem very smart to move out in time. But why should we leave it to the Dogs to move out, they shouldn't be there in the 1st place.
I rather mantain Aircrafts than Troubleshooting a "Dog-hit".
At times Aircrafts slow down to allow a dog to pass [At nights].

Please note that the list given by Sean will slightly change fron next week.

Air Deccan flight to Bhavnagar DN323 will operate at 1135 from 06 November. This is due to the strarting of a new flight on Mumbai Surat sector by the airline from 06th November.

BOM Dep 0915 Arr Surat 1005
Surat Dep 1025 Arr BOM 1115

Flt No is DN327/328

As I understand Air Deccan's inaugral Surat flight was a non starter as the aircraft (with all the top guns on board) could not land due to poor runway conditions and had to go on to Bhavnagar.

Good to know that things are now ok.
