I know Luton is an airport used almost exclusively for European flights and the longest flights at present are to the Canary Islands, Cyprus and Egypt, and the runway length is Luton's main restriction.
But I recall a few years back Monarch operated a weekly A330 charter to Orlando Sanford. Were these flights a success?
I remember back in the 80's Luton advertised that it operated the only direct charter flights to Las Vegas. What equipment and airlines operated this route.
Is it also true at one point Britannia operated charter flights to Australia using 767-200, or am I just dreaming?
Would be interested to know of any other long hauls that have operated from Luton in the years gone by.
