I know ExpressJet's website doesn't include the Embraer RJ-170 or any of its variants in their published fleet expansion plan, but has anyone out there heard if they have or are exploring the idea? They look so cool. I can't wait to fly on one, but I don't fly UA or US very much. Continental's 145s made me a fan of regional jets after years of flying on cramped United Express CRJs. It would be great to see some 170/175/190/195s wearing Continental livery.

actually... there have been bulletins posted around the CO ops centers in EWR speaking of training and ground handling of the E170... Don't be suprised to see it .

You know CLE folks have to be going nuts over this rumor... there is hope!... maybe they will see something other than 135/45's!!
Eh, probably not!
It's funny when I tell people I love planes and they think I'm weird.

Could the ERJ-170/190 be flown by mainline pilots? I know Continental is looking for fleet consolidation, but once the 737-500s are retired, there will be nothing between 50 seats and 125 seats.

ExpressJet can fly the -170's, just not into any of Continental's hubs, IAH, CLE, and EWR. Point to point is in the scope language and acceptable.

From what I've heard from very very reliable sources within the company, it is pretty much set in stone that ExpressJet is getting the 170s. A lot of where it is flown and when it is announced is pending CO filing for Ch 11....I wish I could elaborate more but I dont want to get my rear end in hot water!

The ERJ-170/175/190/195 would at least look good in CO colors:

Well after the NW things, and CO with Embrear, I think possibly a joint NW/CO order could be in effect. Just something that came to my mind.
