From Travelbiz.com.au

Singapore Airlines passengers can now confirm flights, check-in and choose their seats online two days before departure.

The new Internet check-in system, which allows passengers to select their preferred seat from an interactive seat map, can be used for all tickets and bookings, according to a report in The Sydney Morning Herald.

The system can also be used for connecting flights operated by selected airlines, and will also be available for code-shared SQ flights.

Passengers must arrive to check-in luggage at least 45 minutes before their flight.

Following their online check-in, passengers are sent an email or SMS as confirmation.

I wonder if it applies to a paper ticket? I will be flying from Ho Chi Ninh to MOW on January via SIN and it will be great to try it.

Wow! Nice step.

Heard that there are no other possibilities to pre-select or pre-reserve a seat on Singapore Air.
Is that correct?

Maybe I'm missing something but I've been using this system on SQ (with e-tickets) for almost 2 years now.

I had many problems with the previous system...

I logged in with my KrisFlyer number and then changed the FFP number to LH. Online check-in was not possible. If you logged in with Username/PW it would have been fine. But logging in with KF ID/PIN was not ok if you changed the FF earnings. Hopefully the new system will be easier.

Didn't these kind of airlines ALWAYS have online check-in and stuff?

Sean - Last time only KF members could do it, now anybody can check in. Doesnt have to be KF members, any person who has a ticket with SIA is able to do so. Not sure if it refers to Etickets or paper tickets. I would assume paper tickets shld be no worries too.
