No More Non-stop ORD-DLH

Surprise!!! According to UA, the supposed 'non-stop' flight will be flying to Frankfurt, where it will stop for fuel. No more non-stop!

That really would be something if they had to stop in Frankfurt for fuel on their way from ORD to Duluth!

I checked United's website and found no non-stop ORD-DEL flight for after Oct. 31, 1999; I suspect it is simply not available on the computer yet.

With all this hub-bub about a 15-hour flight and regulatory approval, my guess is that they are shooting for a non-stop flight just as their press release says.

I think the Indian Goverment didn't approve this for some reason including since Air India flies to Chicago via London with a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. I think United Airlines should make it non-stop. Delta AirLines flies to Mumbai from Frankfurt too with Boeing 767-300 aircraft and Northwest Airlines flies to Mumbai and Delhi with DC-10 aircraft from Amsterdam. United Airlines it is going to get alot of competion from Delta AirLines, Northwest Airlines and Air India if it doesn't fly non-stop. I think they should not make the stop in Frankfurt I think it should stop in Tokyo or some asian city because no U.S airlines fly to India from Asia or European airports.

I messed up with my sentances in the last post, I was typing it real quick.

I was trying to say if United Airlines should make a stop before going to Delhi it should be from an Asian city since all the U.S airlines that fly to India all stop in European cities already. I think United Airlines will get alot of competion if it doesn't fly this route non-stop.

An update on the proposed ORD-Delhi nonstop by United.
Chicago Tribune (April 16, 1999) reports that according to UA spokesperson the route is still awaiting approval from the Russian authorities for a new air traffic route through eastern Russia. The current option is some other route which will still be non-stop from ORD to Delhi, but on the return trip Delhi-ORD, there will be a fuel stop in Copenhagen. The spokesperson also maintains that unless an airline boards or lets off passengers at the stopover, the flight is still considered non-stop.
