Laker Airways had been flying their 727-200s for some time on behalf of a large resort in the Bahamas whose name presently escapes me. Recently they separated from flying strictly for the resort to pursue scheduled operations to Nassau. They began with service from NAS to Ft. Lauderdale and then expanded up to Columbus Rickenbacker and Lansing. They had plans to start service to other cities in the Midwest and Northeast, such as Louisville, Indianapolis, and Portsmouth, but the airline suspended operations a month or so ago. I'm not sure what will become of them, but my gut feeling is they won't be flying again. Their website is still up at:

Actually the service to LCK started and LAN was scheduled for late October and never made it, they stopped flying prior to the start of service from LAN. They use to fly for a Company called Grand Bahama Vacations, Grand Bahama Vacations owned the biggest hotel on the Island, the Crowne Plaza/Royal Oasis. They also offered a handful of other hotels on the Island though there main focus was to fill there hotel up. IMHO - I believe the shut down has something to do with there falling out with Grand Bahama Vacations, it was not a pleasant split......
