Air.ch is searching F-100, B-737-500 or B-717 to operate out of Geneva or Zurich....Has anyone more information on this project?
IMHO, too many startups in Switzerland in the last 1 or 2 years...

What is the source of this info.?

I wouldn't say there are 'too many startups', rather too many startups without a real idea of what the market wants.

Helvetic had (still has???) quite a bit of potential but the fixed fare concept is a joke, even more so since the introduction of Swiss in Europet.

Well there is Air Zürich (what a name  Yeah sure hehe just kidding  Big grin )
It's a daughter company of Germania Express and they want to operate a Fokker-100 due to traffic right problems of GEXX.

Then, Cirrus just took over Swiss Eagle, a company based in BRN. There is a press conference next Tuesday (they will most likely take over the Intersky routes out of BRN).

Further I agree with what Teahan said. There are not too many startups. If you look how foreign airlines are gaining market share in ZRH, GVA, BSL and BRN then methinks that the Swiss carriers are doing something wrong.

Some of the people involved in Air.ch were also involved in a earlier start-up attempt (company called Lake Geneva Air) and in Swiss World ....

It depends about what Helvetic you are talking  Big grin :

There is Zurich based Helvetic Airways (operating the pink F-100s) and they are still alive with no signs of a looming bankruptcy.

Then there is Geneva based Helvetic Wings that went bust a few weeks ago. They operated GVA-MRS and GVA-BSL and wanted to operate PC-12s on domestic routes. However, you are not allowed to operate PC-12s on scheduled flights so they needed to close.

P.S.: Do you believe that Germania Express wanted to create a Swiss subsidiary called Helvetia Express? Helvetic Airways, Helvetic Wings, Helvetia Express...  Big grin

So, where would this new "air.ch" be based? If the same people behind it are ex-Swiss World, then it will probably be GVA-based (and probably won't make it to the air, too...)...
