Why are the prop planes from 1989-present have the red livery while the jets have the same livery as the mainline?

Flying an aeroplane with only a single propeller to keep you in the air. Can you imagine that? -Capt. Picard

Because NW is cheap and doesn't want to pay to repaint them

they wanted to give the perception they were flying on a real NW airlines airplane, not airlink. Hence why you have the props in all red with grey bottoms, and the rest with the white/smiley black/grey / red top

Mesaba was supposed to do some repainting last month. Rumor has it that there is a silver one in the system. I'll believe it when I get more details or see it.

Negative...silver paint

Negative....Metalic Pearl White is the actual color.

Now, most of the RJ's are in the new colors due to the fact that they where delivered in the new colors. I talked with the Mesaba Rep here were I work and he told me that there are 'plans' to start repainting the Saabs soon, but nothing is set in stone yet.

There are two silver anniversary planes in the fleet. As of yet, none of our planes have been repainted. There are plans though, to have the fleet repainted in the new colors. October was supposed to see the first one, but obviously there is a hang up somewhere.

Probably not enough $$ to pay for painting after renewing Foley's big ass contract and huge signing bonus.

SegmentKing-

I was not talking about 439 and 441. I know about them, I have worked on them and I know the story of their paint job. I was refering to the new Northwest color. Many people are calling it 'silver' when it is actually I've been told from the folks at NW 'Metalic Pearl White'
