Dunno about G-SWJW,
The Slovak 767 was only used for a couple of flights whilst one of the A300s was stranded in DLM after it went tech I think

DC-10s, nothing confirmed yet I dont think

Dalaman
The other MD-83 aircraft will be based at East Midlands Airport & will be operating to & from the following destinations:

Corfu (up to 2 weekly return services)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once again Air Scandic will be operating flights from Manchester, Glasgow International, Belfast International & Newcastle to Orlando Sanford for the summer of 2005, utilising a 227 seat Boeing 757 aircraft.
Another 227 seat Boeing 757 aircraft will be based at Manchester Airport and will be operating between that airport & the following destinations:

Tenerife (up to 2 weekly return services)
Arrecife
Alicante
Malaga (up to 3 weekly return services)
Ibiza

Helsinki
Heraklion (up to 2 weekly return services)
Skiathos
Mitilini
Rhodes
Kos
Kalamata
Paphos

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope the above info helps you guys out.... interesting too as they seemed to have streamlined their capacity for next summer.

Now who's gonna provide all the subbs for when an aircraft 300 seater + goes tech. Air Scandic were used quite a bit. Air Atlanta dont seem to have much leeway in their fleet anymore and all the other charters are utilizing what they have to the full.

I take it that all Air Scandics aircraft are now on lease from Finnair, cant wait to see the MD's in air scandic livery.

Hope the above helps you out

cheers

MyTravel decided to hang on to "DA" a bit longer so I guess Scandic wont be getting a DC10.

OH!!!

When i flew Air Scandic from Newcastle to Rhodes, B752, i thought they had just leased the aircraft from Finnair, because it was Finnair crew on board.

The MD-83s are Finnair a/c.
Air Scandic are a very good airline, despite what people on here may say.

MyTravel's DC10 now has no titles. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets an Air Scandic title soon enough.
Nothing confirmed but the DC10 has been out of service for a while now, and its not as if its been a standby aircraft as MyTravel have loads of aircraft parked around MAN.

Air Scandic are a very good airline, despite what people on here may say.
hmm... they are not bad, not good either, alot of delays with the A300's last summer, at Swissport we were glad to get rid of them this summer, not sure if we will have them back next summer. I didn't like how they used 2 aircraft (MD83 and the Slovak 762) when G-SWJW went tech at MAN.

She was supposed to fly for the first time with Air Scandic this Wednesday, but obviously now that's not going to happen. She would also operate on Thursday, which was when I was planning to go down to MAN and shoot a few pics of her, but now that ain't going happen either  Sad

BYDA's sadly on it's last legs anyway, so it's probably best if she stays at My Travel a little longer where she won't be used as much.

So what's happening to BYDA? It's breaking my heart thinking she might get the chop.

Has Air Scandic actually got her now, or is she still with MYT?

From what I know the ex-MyTravel ships sitting at Kemble will operate some Hajj flights this season. They have been bought by a South African operator AFAIK.

Alex,
As far as I know from reading the above, My Travel are keeping her for a little longer  Smile By the sounds of it though she's still going to Scandic, but not just yet.

A few weeks back there were rumours she was going to be sold to Skyservice or be even converted into a freigter, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen now.

All the best, Dale

What's wrong with it?  Sad It's not economical for MyTravel to operate the DC-10 any more, as we've seen, but is it not something they could put right with spare parts of other aircraft before being sold off to another airline? If it's on its "last legs", if SCY were to take it, is it only going to be short-term?

oh great Orlando service will be with Finnair's ugly 757s again... Can't they fill the A300 to SFB? If not, what's the reason? Love the Air Scandic livery on the A300 by the way.

Ahh ok Dale, thanks. So how come the thing with SCY isn't going to happen just yet, do you know?

I do agree that she is pretty out of shape though. Back in August her cabin was a bit tatty but I have to say that in my opinion, her t/o performance beats that of a tripple. She's still a fine old lady.

Its like Microsoft word meets Clipart

The Orlando service will yet again be with the Finnair 757's.

G-BYDA is still technically owned by MyTravel, although there are no MYT markings on her.

I still think she is being lined up for SCY flight sometime soon, its in and out of MYT/FLS engineering everyday near enough.

...or be even converted into a freighter, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen now

I doubt that will happen, there is talk of MyTravel's 757's going to DHL or FedEx when they leave MyTravel. Some 757's were expected to leave the fleet this summer, but two have just had a repaint into full MyTravel colours G-JALC and G-RJGR. Not bad for MYT 3 out of 5 757's in full colours, although its really 4, as G-WJAN has been leased to Skyservice for winter - sorry bit off topic there.

As far as I know the DC10 will not be seeing Air Scandic service anymore. The work is no longer there. It was going to fly to South Africa for CT2 holidays. This is the same company that set up AV8air to fly to South Africa. They were marketing the South Africa holidays under the howaboutsouthafrica.com brand. There was a nice website including a section about "our flights are operated by Air Scandic, utilising modern DC10 aircraft".

Next thing the howaboutsouthafrica.com website vanishes. Now you get linked through to CT2 holidays with no mention anywhere of South Africa. So it seems no DC10 or South Africa?

Back to next summer, this leaves Air Scandic as pretty much a "virtual" airline. All they will provide is cabin crew. I think its a shame they'll have no aircraft on the British register and no flight crews.

"Now who's gonna provide all the subbs for when an aircraft 300 seater + goes tech"
I think Air Scandic will be looking for subs, not operating them. 21 weekly flights with one MD83. No room for error...

Damn I forgot about G-BYDA's last flight. I had been so caught up in events at college (like my leaving it) I forgot to grab a seat on one of her last flights  Sad that and of course I've missed a number of good photo ops. Still I will surley be able to catch a few good photos of her at some point, although she always gave me the runaround (I just could never get a good shot - the last one was perfect, I got her as her MLG were just about to leave the runway, sadly a BY 757 taxied past and Jet Blasted the whole thing).

I would love to see G-BYDA moved over to the AVP, simply because the Monarch DC-10 is not enough, it's just a nose section. I think that given a good coat of paint G-BYDA could be the second main attraction right after concorde. Of course My Travel won't really get any income from this so it's painfully unlikley.

I noticed that one of the A300's had been returned the other day but though that it may have just been temporary, seems not though if they are replacing them with the MD-83s. (Please don't tell me they are going for the old Airtours buisness model there, aka 5 MD-83's on charters..... although there are a few differences.)

The Air Scandic livery is terrible, at least if the designers had been stoned or drunk when they came up with it they could have made something better.

..but you'll be missing it when it's gone with those ugly eurowhites, BMI Babies and downright retarded looking TUi aircraft flying in the UK.. enjoy!

Anyways it's 10 times more interesting than the boring 757 of Finnair that they bring to SFB  Angry photographed it once, and it was more than enough!
