Hello all,

I was wondering about Flyjets fleet plans. I think that i read somewhere in Airlinerworld that Flyjet would buy more aircraft by the end of 2004 and maybe somemore in 2005. The issue is old now so i was wondering;

When will they get more aircraft?
How many aircraft will they get?
Will they go for 737's?
What will they go for?

To be honest, Im surprised they are still flying. They haven't exactly made their mark in the charter world like XLA did, and their time-keeping isn't the best.

Alc - dont be so quick to judge. They are backed by some powerful people, and have contracts with some big operators. They are a courageous little carrier with grand plans. Trust me. Having flown with them, id say they are certainly one of the best UK charter carriers, and ok the timekeeping is bad, but it was never going to be easy with a fleet of two 757s and no back up, with a VERY ambitious and impressive route network.

I have it on good authority (ive written their credit report, so trust me i know) that last year a lease for a third RR powered 752 fell through at the last minute. They were looking at some 762s lately, possibly from the desert. Understand a third 752 will deffo arrive early new year, perhaps as early as February, and they have a whole raft of MOD charters coming up.

They are also operating a UK service from BHX or EMA to Ameritsar in India non-stop on behalf of Poo Air (i kid you not) and although its still up in the air for the moment, let me tell you, FJE stand to do VERY well out it. Not sure if its happening or not yet though.

If you have any specific queries gimme a shout and ill see what i can do.

What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

A third 757 to expand their ops at MAN I've heard. Also perhaps 1 or 2 767-300ERs

Yep FlyJet have started their flight from BHX-ATQ. It operates on a Sunday afternoon at th mo and from later in Nov/Dec will operate on a Friday too I think it is. Apparently heard a rumour they are hoping to start BHX-YYZ next year too. Yeah FlyJet seem like a very good airline and wish them all the best. Be good to see more FlyJet aircrafts flying around, especally from BHX!

They have been slow to start with but then look at astraus. They are now a very successful company but have kept a low profile.

Flyjet and Astraeus are very similar. They're going for niche markets that the big charters couldnt care less about. Just because your a charter airline doesn't mean you have to fly bucket-and-spade routes to Spain for the big tour operators. These airlines are operating for the smaller tour ops on more unusual routes. Seems to be going ok for them, good luck to them!
