Dogfighter2111, you sound very confident about flights to Egypt...do they have any plans?

That's why i was asking about the future of the airline, but there are currently no flights that i know of leaving scotland for Egypt, but there are flights from LHR. I would like to see them setup more of the unusual routes.

Well BY started GLA-SSH (Sharm El Sheikh) flights last Thursday. The charter flights operate on a weekly basis with B757s.

Air Scotland, to Egypt? I doubt it very much. Don't be greedy Horus, if you wish you can now fly from 2 destinations in Egypt to GLA. SSH for the Winter and Hurghada (sp) next Summer.

Mind you, FlyGlobespan's chairman did mention that once they get their new 738's Egypt could be a possible destination.

Air Scotland aren't doing much just now. Although I think they are trying to get flights from Scotland-Athens-Pakistan. Strange, but it might work.....

flyGlobespan arn't a good airline to fly, you could fly some of the same destinations with Air Scotland, and get a better flight.

Ive had no problems with Fly Globespan. Care to elaborate on why FlyGlobespan "arn't a good airline to fly"

With fly Globespan, you are only allowed 35kg TOTAL LUGGAGE, but
Air Scotland allow 40kg. Air Scotland's aircraft have a lot of legroom, where as you know how a Sardine feels with globespan. Air Scotland's food is much nicer aswell.

Obviously things can go wrong with any airline, but there is a higher chance with Air Scotland as they only operate the 1 aircraft, if it goes tech then the passengers are stuffed.

I never knew they had only the one a/c, because earlier this year they had 2 757's and 1 767.

GLAGAZ, it's nothing to do with 'greed'. Yes GLA-SSH services have started, and yes GLA-HRG is planned but don't you feel there is a missing destination...CAI?

I had no idea FlyGlobespan ordered (or leasing) B738s. When are they arriving?

That was last summer when they were using aircraft from Air Holland, who now cease to exist. Now the one and only aircraft they use is a B752 from 'Greece Airways'.

They have ordered them(2) new from the factory, and should be arriving in the spring.

fly Globespan is just channel express passenger services, it was channel express that founded the airline.

Greedy was used in a funny tone Horus.

SL, apparently its now 3 738's. FlyGlobespan is part of the globespan cooperation. It was they who started the airline wasn't it? Channel Express just operate some flights or something.

Channel Express did not found the airline. It was founded by Tom Dalrymple.
Please check facts first.

Not quite, it was parent company Globespan who 'founded' them. To begin Channex provided the lease for all their aircraft, they still do except for a couple of B733s which Flyglobespan have on their own AOC.

Thanks for the info ScottishLaddie

I hope Egyptian airlines re-start GLA services again. Up until now, the UK as a whole has been avoided due to the strong competition they faced from UK charter airlines.

Wouldn't mind going along to see Egypt Air at GLA  Smile They use A320's to a number of other Euro destinations.

GLAGAZ, I think MS could make a CAI-GLA route work, with a 3x weekly A320 service, but I think MAN would be the next UK destinations.

I was just looking at CAI's website and they show that MYT will operate a charter flight between GLA and CAI, on Sunday 30/01/05 (MYT6405). It arrives at 12:05, and departs at 00:35 (long layover). To be honest the whole thing looks abit strange. Could CAI be a stop on route to an African destination? Monarch's Mombasa flights sometimes stop in CAI.
