After years of flying out of LAX, I am actually going to connect there to a Skywest UAex Brasilia to OXR (Oxnard, CA 10 minutes from my parent's home in Camarillo). I have never actually flown into OXR and I am wondering what path the flight takes for the very, very short hop. Also, what path do they take on the return OXR-LAX, and what height and speed does the plane fly? Thanks all

This is an easy question, as it falls under the Socal TEC Route System (Tower Enroute Control).

Basically, you'll never leave approach airspace, and never talk to center.

Routes and altitudes are as follows:

LAX-OXR LAXM45 (VTU4.VTU) 6000ft

OXR-LAX VTUM11 (VTU.V299.SADDE.V107.SMO) 5000ft

Speed is generally Controlled by SoCal Approach as this is VERY busy airspace.

Full Information on these routes & many others for the LA Area is available at the virtual LA Center's website from VATSIM: http://www.laartcc.org

ONT-LAX is also really short, UA does it 5 times a day with EMB-120's.

when i took this flight years ago on a uaex emb120, after takeoff from lax, slight right turn towards s.f. valley, once approaching the valley, left turn, and it was a straight line to the runway into oxr, i think it was a 16 min flight. on the return, we took off towards sba, left turn towards the coast, then down the coast to downtown l.a., right turn back to lax for final approach
