I want to hear your thoughts on the chances of Embraer producing a widebody aircraft. As it stands, they are beginning to chip away at the heels of Airbus's A318 and Boeings 736 with their EMB-190.

ZERO...... they are very happy with the market they have and see no need to go any bigger. Let alone the cost to build new hangars would be HUGE

Boeing and Airbus ponied up. Plus Embraer have very economical aircraft, I think their economics could really scare the Sh8t out of the big 2 if they ever moved into the market.

Doubtful, but it would be nice to see the EMB-235 (115 passengers) and EMB-240 (125 passengers), all 2x2!! Couldn't you just imagine!

Probability of a larger Embraer?
About the same probability of you using the search feature or doing a bit of research on your own-- ZEROOO
Embraer is partially owned by EADS, owner of Airbus, so why in god's name would EADS authorize Embraer to build a competing product to the much more profitable Airbus venture?
Second, a modern widebody cost huge amounts of money. The 777 was estimated at 12+ billion, add in another 1 billion for 773ER/772LR. And the 7E7 will tip the scales at 8+ billion. The E170/E190 was spare change compared to these developments. The complexity and cost of aircraft its practically exponential, there is quite a difference between RJ and ULH C-market widebody.
And also, why would Boeing/Airbus *ever* allow another entrant to the 200+ seat market? Every order is a massive brawl as it is... besides, what needs are not being met that Embraer could exploit? None.... no niche for them to soley occupy. They have the RJ market down... just stay there and be comfortable.
