They just did a segment on DEN's automated baggage system. As you might have guessed, it was on the show titled, "Modern Marvels - Engineering Disasters 12". The show also featured the Milwaukee water treatment problem in 1993, the problem with the Sherman tank, the collapse of the Skyline Plaza in Fairfax, VA, and the Texas A&M bonfire collapse in 1999. In the segment about DEN, they mentioned that the automated baggage system is operational, but only for UA. All the other airlines use the old fashioned tug carts. They did fix the problems with the rogue and balky carts, and the luggage chewing equipment, or at least the program gave that impression. I also remember a recent local news story about some of the track from the baggage system being sold off as scrap. Does anyone know if they are going to expand the baggage system to the rest of the airport?
