Air France has announced that it will do something together with KLM in terms of their FFPs (i.e. they will merge them I assume). Does anyone have more details? When will the new program be launched?

I don't have the answer but I am wondering as well being a member of both programs and having miles coming to expiry deadline in 2005 on AF. I've preferred KL recently, the transfer from train to plane at CDG is a hassle if you have more than a hand luggage.

In every communication I had with either AF or KL I asked what the situation would be and they weren't very talkative. It was only mentioned to me (FD Gold Elite) that they would bring the programs closer around Q1 or early Q2/2005.

When asking more specific questions already a few months into the creation of AF/KL and into collect & spend reciprocity, they were not very useful either. E.g. I wanted to know how many miles you'd get on Fréquence Plus for the BRU-AMS leg. Because if you route via AF's ZYR-CDG you get 1,000 AF miles in Y but if you route via KL's BRU-AMS F70 flight you'd get only 500 FD ones.

Question of the like: Ok I'm stuck in BRU between AMS and CDG and will fly SkyTeam (especially with MEA joining) but should I fly AF or KL and collect on the one or the latter to get the better deal.  Yeah sure

"BrightCedars" - walau, cool username! I see you are new to the forum, so welcome to you.

From what you are saying I understand that KL is just as miserable on the ground as AF is.... I have never experienced KL in the past (except flying with them to CAi in 1989), but I wondered whether they'd be as disastrous as AF. Seems like yes.

Merci pour les fleurs!

I find KL rather nice on the ground and in the air actually. It's more the FD helpdesk people that are sometimes lousy, sometimes uninformed.

When I called to say that they forgot to charge me an award ticket (how stupid - hem nice - of me to do so), they charged the full price of the award (one-way BRU-AMS-BEY or 25,000 miles) instead of the discounted price that was on offer and stated on the confirmation email they send automatically (25% discount last October i.e. 18,750 miles).

So I had to call back and they told me that they have to start an enquiry and that I can eventually hope to see my miles back in 4 to 6 weeks time. No news yet. What if I had other plans with the miles? Seems there's no presumption of innocence nor burden of proof (their email) for FD Elites at KL.
