I'm flying to Cape Town with LH, commencing at LHR and via FRA, in December.
My agent has called me to say that the 6.00pm flight out of LHR I was booked on has been chopped. I was offered a later service which meant only 50 minites between landing at departure at FRA which i've declined in favour of an earlier flight, so hope the LH FRA Business lounge is up to scratch.
Anyway the purpose of my rambling is that this seems an odd time of year to cut capaicity on a pretty major city pair. Is this a trend LH are repeating across Europe?

I dont know if it might be for the same reasons, but LX also did this to me last year. Apparently (from what I was told, and I do believe this has some element of truth to it....just how much is a decision for you to make) the (usually) terrible weather at LHR during december causes airlines' landing slots to be tightly restricted, to the point where LX last year cut 2 of their daily flights out to GVA on some days. Instead, they would re-route everyone on earlier/later flights, or put them all on an A332 to ZRH and send them on from there.
Maybe you will find that LH has cut your flight down because of these restrictions, and will instead operate more A300s that day. Dont know if this is the actual reason, but as I said, I've had that happen before with LX.
Insofar as I know, LH aren't cutting flights to any other European cities at the moment.
