BAC 1-11 G-AVMN To Be Scrapped

She deserves (in my opinion) to go up to Manchester to rest alongside Concorde, the Trident which is going there and the Bae146/AvroRJ thats already there.

I honestly do not think that such a beautiful plane should be scrapped. It should rest with the aviation greats at Manchester, considering that it is one.

Guys,

According to the excellent BAC 1-11 homepages located at http://www.bac1-11jet.co.uk, G-AVMN is currently sat outside the European Aviation hangars at Bournemouth (BOH) awaiting its fate.

Its place at the Aviation Museum has already been taken up by G-AZMF, which I believe was the final 1-11 to operate commercially in the UK, back in March 2002.

Ironically, I was lucky enough to get on one of the final flights on AZMF from Bournemouth, so the aircraft holds a special place in my heart.

Paint it into BEA Colors and get it up to MAN. Stop scrapping all those aircraft with historical value, you can't bring them back.

One thing is though, if we do manage to save the 1-11 along with a few more aircraft in future we will eventually run out of space to put them  Smile

Noooooooo! Leave it AB Airlines colours - it last operated for them, it should see out it's days in that beautiful scheme! Then bring it to MAN!!!

It's especially poignant for me considering that very aircraft was one of the first we operated at AB back in 1995, alongside G-AVMT and G-AVMI

Even my username is in memory of AB Airlines (7L) and our first aircraft

wow that is a beauty hope they keep it in AB c/s and don't scrap it, like Col said, you can't bring these classics back!

I think history is worth more than a couple of bucks, or British Pounds in this case Big grin Any other BAC-111s in the UK still in full airline colors?

I think that it should go to Manchester along with a Trislander seen as these arn't produced anymore. Maybe a SD330 as well instead of them been sent to Teeside for fire training.
Does anyone know if the replacement BAC 1-11 is open to look inside. If it is does it have a full interior.
