For those of you too paranoid to register, here's a summary:

American Airlines Inc. restructured its prices to and from its hub operation at Miami International Airport Thursday, lowering some of its most expensive walk-up fares by as much as 85 percent.

... American was seeing passengers shift from Miami’s airport to nearby Fort Lauderdale, where low-cost competitors such as AirTran Airways Inc. and Southwest Airlines Co. had much lower airfares ...

Fares from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Miami will drop sharply for last-minute flying. One-way fares bought the day of flying were $910 each way on American yesterday: they’re $240 each way as of today.

about time....i've actually flown on ATA instead of AA from SFO a couple of times because of this..........while i prefer to fly to ORD as opposed to MDW....charging $700+ more for a last minute ticked is NOT acceptable.....

Maybe they will do this @ SFO too..... but i'm not too confident about it.... Yeah sure

Some very interesting fares on the MAN-MIA service - £750 go out Y and come back J. Or £900 return in J. Do not expect to see the MAN-MIA back for next year.

Hi Billy - I'm not sure I get your point (not trying to be a wiseguy or anything, just please elaborate a bit).

Thanks!

No. This is is only for MIA/FLL/PBI. It is too keep their domestic customer base strong. They have been loosing domestic customers to passengers on LCCs, and don't want to continue doing so. The new lowfares allows them to remain far more competitive in the market. Notice they are only on domestic flights, not international, since they have much more limited compieition on international routes, and extremely limited LCC compietition (only SDQ and CUN have LCC compietition).

Yields on MIA-MAN have not meet expectations. Loads have been fine, but the seats are selling cheap, so it is still iffy if they are going to operate the flight again for the 2005/2006 winter season. Hopefully the yields will improve.

Have the fares been loaded yet, cause I just checked RDU-MIA 12/27-1/2 and it was ~$480 r/t.. and that's still expensive if you ask me!

Uhh... Please remember this only applies to WALK-UP fares.

To fly, or not to fly: that is the question
