Hi Anxebla!
As you know, information given by mass media are usually too vague. I've read several papers but there's no more info about it.
I suppose they found smoke on passengers cabin..... But I can't assure it :-(

8 injured, 1 with a broken leg. And President Putin was another of the affected travelers, as he was on his way back from Brazil and had to wait almost two hours to continue his trip due to the partial closure of LIS airport.

Does anybody which of the A340-600 it is?

Reg. confirmed from RTP (Portuguese Television) footage shown this morning here on TV. News here are of a cargo hold fire warning that got activated.

Plane towed to stand, airport now under normal ops.
Russian pres. Puttin was on board the presidential IL-96 taxiing to the holding point of runway 03 (visit of state, enroute to Brazil) when the IB declared the emergency, and due to the incident, got stuck at LIS until the airport reopened.

14 injured from the emergency evacuation, everyone ok.

288 pax don't fit in an A340-300! Are there people who refuse to take a new flight?

humm...
Maybe some of the pax ellected to be transfered back to MAD in the morning flight out of LIS, either to resume voyage or to go home.

Anyway, I am positive they are sending the A343 I mentioned as the replacement aircraft. Currently scheduled to leave MAD around noon spanish time.

Three pax were admitted to Santa Maria Hospital... an Israeli woman of 57, with a twisted ankle, an english cityzen, male, 69, and a 24 year old spanish girl.
All injured are ok, one of these three was submitted to a cirurgical procedure at the hospital and it is now recovering.

Luis

Interesting enough an ex-IB 757, operating now as RG fleet, after one week in operation suffered an emergency landing in POA on Thursday last week. The RG flight operated EZE-GIG. a/c sent back to IB for checking.

Hardi,

Are you sure that PP-VTQ was sent back to Spain? From what I know, it was back into the schedule one (perhaps two) days after the incident. And both 757s where seen as usual the days aftwards.

On a side note, the third one, PP-VTS, is about to be delivered soon.

Enjoy London

Renato

S.p.a.s.:

I got this information from a Spanish net member...have a look at this link:

http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/1815358/

Maybe RG sent the 757 for checking and it came back one day after? Not sure about the information though...

So there will be an additional ex-IB 757? Very good news! Any more coming? As far as I known, these ex-IB 757s were operating at IB's MIA hub, which now is deactivated.

Tks! (will be in LCY for a week...so no posts)

Hardi

Ok confirmed MSN 601 (sorry I made a mistake when saying 604 earlier).

The aircraft has been put under seal by the Portuguese authorities.

Apparently there was indeed no smoke but warnings of smoke with the IFE and in the electronics bay.

Is this the first 346 they received and the one that apparently they've constantly been having problems with?

Jose:

EC-IZX was delivered in September of this year so its about 2 months old. I have heard that the sensors on the A340's are very sensitive. Not sure what triggered the smoke in cargo hold warning but thank god it was a false alarm and that the only injuries happened during evacuation.
