Hello All!!

In regards to the thread on WN's MDW expansion, I realized that the PHX-Chicago (both airports) route is served by four airlines - UA, AA, WN, & HP (and maybe even TZ).

Are there other city pairs that have as large or larger numbers of different airlines connecting them?

Happy and safe travels during the holidays!!

The JFK/LGA/EWR-MIA/FLL/PBI has at least 6 airlines, AA, DL, CO, US, NK, B6. If you include ISP then there's more, with WN on the route. There are probably more than I listed.

FlyLondon,
You beat me to it.

SESGDL,
There is also USA3000 (U5) flying that route as well from EWR to FLL.

So, I think it's a tie with each having 7 airlines fly between 2 cities. Go NY go NY go!!! Obviously my hometown.

PHL-Chicago (both MDW and ORD) have 5 carriers that serve this route:

AA, UA, & US for ORD plus TZ & WN for MDW combine for as many as 36 flights a day between these 2 cities.

PHL-LAX is 2nd in terms of the most carriers serving a particular non-stop route (although no where near the frequency as Chicago flights); carriers that serve this route are F9, UA, US & WN.

Off the top of my head, 11 airlines (not including codeshares) fly between Sao Paulo (GRU/CGH) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG/SDU), although there may be more. Of course, most can't carry local traffic, but they still fly from one city to the other!

American
Avianca
British Airways
Continental
Gol
LAN Chile
Lufthansa
TAM
United
Varig
VASP

An NZ employee once told me 13 airlines fly between AKL-SYD in competition with NZ. AR,LA,QF,NZ,Pacific Blue,Freedom Air, EK,TG, plus I believe lots of small Polynesian airlines such as Soloman Islands Airways...???

Haha that's cheating  Big grin
KUL-CGK (11), SIN-CGK (11), BKK-HKG (12) & BKK-SIN (13) all carry local traffic.

I don't think any pacific islands airline fly SYD-AKL anymore. PH & TN do have flights on SYD-AKL but they are nothing more than codeshare flights operated by Qantas.

I know you can't travel on it, but it still counts! Right?
