One of my contacts @ HNL told me there's a Basler Turbo DC-3 that's @ HNL, but it's leaving @ 0800 Sunday for Asia. Saw it on it's descent from Manoa Valley yesterday. Thought it was a "3", but it didn't sound like. though it looked like one.
Just checked FC, and found this ...

First off ... I thought the winds were blowing northeasterly, but has changed toa northwesterly track, thus the traffic pattern has reversed to Kona winds. Speaking to a fellow a.net photographer visiting from CA this morning, I told him that the winds were from the NE and traffic would be normal. My apologies.
Like any other airport, there are some law enforcement officers that know of what we do, and if seen frequently, leave us alone. Then again ... just be nice to them, because some don't understand. Lagoon Drive has the best spotting locations, especially at the end, where there is a parking lot with a view of Rwy 8R/26L.

Not exactly a rare bird, but a rare city to fly to Honolulu from. I was checking flightarrivals.com and notice Korean Air Flight 101 had just arrived in Honolulu from Santiago!! Quite a flight. I guess it is the leader of South Korea heading back home. Quite a routing. I wonder how long that flight took. Aircraft is a 747-400 and it arrived at 11:00 pm on Sunday night. Don't know when it will be heading back to Seoul.

The Kona's must have lasted quite a while. In the 20 minutes I was @ HNL, managed to catch an USN F/A-18F depart 22L along with a TZ 753. A 5Y 744F in full colors pushing out if HS4.
Was looking over the forecast for Monday. Said winds will be out of the east. Would be nice to swing south for a bit and change the traffic pattern.
Tried to look for the KE 744, but only could see a UA772 and a HQ 752. Speaking of which HQ has their flights in the evenings, unless its an add-on(?)

If it's a KE 747-400, I'd put it in the rare category. KE flies only 777-200s/0-300s to HNL. The South Korean President is leaving Monday afternoon. The aircraft would most likely be parked on the Hickam side since that's where they were disembarking.

On flightarrivals.com, the Lufthansa MD-11 is scheduled to arrive at 4 pm local time and depart at 5 pm for Auckland. I remember they used to arrive first thing in the morning around 8 or so. Maybe someone can spot them taking off this afternoon. Sun angle won't be good though.

Saw a blue colored B744 takeoff this afternoon at around 15:45-16:00, I was guessing it was the KE B744 mentioned above.
Not too sure about the registration of the CZ B73G. The previous CZ B73G that arrived HNL on November 13, 2004 had the registration number of B-2622, the next one on Boeing's list is B-2916.

Got some pictures of various aircraft today due to some driving around the ramp with my camera.
Got an obstructed shot of the JAL 777 (JA707J) at Gate 24. Also a Miami Air 737-800 (N734MA) getting ready for what looked like departure on the North Ramp. Pretty sure I caught a glimpse of the pax given he was dressed in a very touristy aloha shirt. Parked behind it was a LH MD-11F (D-ALCK). Took a side and head on shot of the MD-11. Finally, I was able to catch a NW 757-300 (N594NW) at the same time I had my camera along with NW DC-10-30 (N226NW), both in new colors.

Anybody catch the Swiss Air MD11 parked out in front of Cemetary Aviation? How's about the Gulfstream parked in the Circle Rainbow hanger? Did anyone catch their new paint job? The painter had to have been on drugs while doing that design. Far out man!

This morning at 07:30, I'm 99.9% sure I saw a KL MD-11 roar off from 08R (could've been 08L since it was pretty close inland, which was how I heard it). It headed off toward the mainland, didn't have time to pick up the callsign to confirm it, unfortunately.
A LX MD-11 on the South Ramp? Do you think it would stay overnight and leave tomorrow? That is for sure a rare bird, especially since they were retired not too long ago.

Wow I missed a lot of stuff going on @ HNL, including the Kona's traffic during midday. KL and LX MD-11s? D'OH! Went out yesterday hoping the winds would shift, but nope. Looks like my next chance may be the weekend. No rain & more Kona's!
Of course, on my way to HNL today the winds shifted back! (sigh) Nothing special was on the S.R. nor the N.R. today,
Yes, Clipperhawaii, Sergio Robles would be proud. Seems like this thread series will outlast his career.

For most of the Boeing deliveries to Chinese (PRC) carriers, part of their reg #s are the flight #s. As is in the last CZ delivery CSN916 was B-2916.
The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) was in port @ NS Pearl Harbor over the weekend. Not sure how long they'll be here. That would explain the F/A-18F of the VFA-2 that took off from 22L about a week ago. The VFA-2 is based on CVN-72.

In looking at the original photo file I shot, the airplane in question is a CO 764. The giveaway is the tailcone, it's pointed 767's, like the UA one across from the CO. The motion-blur gives it the illusion of 777 tailcone, look @ the UA 772 behind the F/A-18F.
