Actually, DBA has been operating two DK-leased B735 all summer already, but this is the first time they have painted one in their full colors.

Two reasons:

1. A less complex paintscheme is easier to maintain and thus saves cost.

2. As part of the "severance package" from BA, DBA had to relinquish any logos and designs, which are related to their former mother company. The black belly was part of the British Airways corporate design and therefore had to go.

...if they are interested in more 735s, they can take the TU ones which are put for sale. The birds are relatively new and have always been well maintained  Big grin

Ahmed,

From what I have heard, DBA is not interested in adding significantly more B735 - this variant is just an ideal "route opener" for new cities (e.g. the new MUC-HAJ and MUC-DRS services), but with seat-mile-costs, which are not much better than the ones of the B733.

DBA is currently considering a total renewal of their fleet - most likely contenders are the A319 and B73G.

DBA won't get any further B737-500s. One more B737 will be added in spring next year, but this will most probably be a B737-300.

Why is this the only 737-500 then?

I know that they are thinking of replacing them all with Airbus aircraft or Boeing.

Are they going to go with the 737-700 if they go for Boeing?
Would they ever go for the A318?
