Its awkward, why does KE keep its fleet of 3 A330-200's? (HL7538, 7539, 7552) when the rest 16 A330's are 300's? Also the engine on these ac's (PW4168A and PW4168) do they have a difference?

I know that KE flies these ac to Oceania. Does the -200 do the job for this then? Or is there any longer route on the KE network that flies with a -200 or -300?

Since they're practically the same aircraft, what point is there in discarding them if KE's found a profitable use for both types?

Ktachiya,

A visit to http://www.koreanair.com and http://www.amadeus.net would most probably have answered your question on what routes the A330s fly.

A332s have flown as far as ICN-ZRH and ICN-PRG. They also do regional flights to China and PEN for example.

A330-200 and -300s are pretty much the same aircraft with minimal differences that could be operated together in a fleet without much trouble. They have major commonality in all aspects and -200 pilots can fly -300s and vice versa. They are a same family of aircraft serving slightly different mission - capacity and range wise is the difference in operations and capability of aircraft. It's just like the B737-400 and B737-300.

PW4168 and PW4168A are exactly same engines with different thrust output rating that are limited by computer software (FADEC).

ICN-OIT
ICN-KIX
ICN-KOJ

The biggest mistake made by most human beings: Listening to only half, understanding just a quarter and telling double.

Airbus Lover

Thanks. I previously posted a thread about CX A340-600's. At that time I didn't get comments like they were the same aircraft. Is it because of the length that its too different to just judge by capacity and range?

So basically the A330-200/300 are somewhat comparble to a difference like B767-200/300?

No, the A340 post about the CX ones. I talked specifically about the A340-300 and -600
