A labor union spoukesman of the Hamburg factory said that they have a guerantee from Airbus that after rhe runway extension is constructed - expected for 2007 - they will open the delivery center there.

This time Hamburg hopes that a condemnation gets through. The last time it was rejected because the public benefit for a condemnation wasn't appropriate enough argued. It is said that Airbus will give this time some additional job guarantees to underline their public benefit.

JoFMO - a condemnation? "Verurteilung"? I think you meant a confiscation (Beschlagnahmung), or... not sure if this is the right term... an expropriation (Enteignung).

Gonzot, believe me - it might be a French hobby as well, but the Germans, too, have perfected this almost to an artform... complaining about unemployment and the bad economy, but resisting just about anything that could improve either (or both) thing(s).

Quite sad to see... although, in this case, at least some of the people protesting against the expansion have actually lived there before Airbus started making planes there, so they are on a much better level than the, more or less, typical person protesting against airport noise, who moved close to the airport while it was already not only in existance but being used extensively.
