What do U think of it??
A good new livery?? Ugly... or ???
For me the new colors and image are better... they give the company a more "advanced" look. Not the normal Euro white stuff and it's a totally very smart idea! I think another great livery in the Colombian SKY!!!
The First plane to wear the new livery is one of their ATR-42's. Its all ready flying around!!
West is consolidating even more their HUB here in Medellin, they are operating their MDs based more and more in MDE
What a nice advertisement... http://www.wca.com.co/promociones1x15.php
fly 15 times with WEST.. Don't get rid of your used tickets and get a flight with WEST to SAN ANDRES.... hotel included!! With 3 days and 2 nights and diner!!
CANT FIND THIS IN EUROPE!!!! MAYBE AFTER 80 FLIGHTS WITH KLM and then for free to Tenerife.... jajaja no way Jose!!! (just my thoughts)
"WEST una manera diferente de volar"
It really is.. can't wait to fly with them again!!

What can I say... Excellent news...
I just found out about the new image last night and apparently today the whole aviation community here in Medellin knows about it.
Great colors, great livery, excellent use of aircraft fuselage for painting and nice to see a fresh and less tropical look on West, and definitely leaves Avianca with their hideous look right down on the dipers (hope to see what they'll come up with).
I can't wait to see the ATR in the new scheme, it's right now based in Medellin (EOH) but will most certainly be rotating and flying throughout the whole country.

Hallo Willem, konta bai? (a lil' papiamento)
I saw the livery a few days ago when I went to their website... But something that caught my eye is what appears to be an A320 in WCA's "old" livery in the main page... Weird...
"...definitely leaves Avianca with their hideous look right down on the dipers..."
- I second that! I love the new livery... I only miss the pretty girl that used to be in their main page, whom I referred to as "Adriana"... lol!

HAHAHA... you can say that again!!! )
Funny to see that Colombian airlines are doing great and changing their livery!
Aires Colombia
LAS Colombia
Aerosucre Colombia
TAMPA
and now WEST
and Yes as SouthAmerica: just mentioned..AVIANCA is possible the next one!

What the heck is that? That logo looks like a copy of United. I was hoping to see some stunning livery from the hype of the first post, not something this butt ugly!
I absolutely loved the purple/green colors they had, the font in the name and all was very original. Some color on the fuselage is all they needed, not this eurocrap. Not very innovative, like a LAN livery backwards. Also reminds me of Bmi and the Excel group's livery, but not as good as any of these three.
As if there wasn't enough blue and white airplanes, yet another livery change for the worse.

I do like this one a lot.
The old one was quite simple, and yet I still liked it, but this one surpasses it.
Can't wait to see the ATR or the next plane the paint.
Most of the color changes have been good, except for Tampa's one, that colors are nice but I liked the Germany flag colors better, and oh, I still haven't seen AeroSucre's (by the way, there's an AeroSucre 727 parked at general Aviation ramp at MDE like a month ago with the right engine removed).
Thumbs up for West!
I gladly accept donations to pay for flight hours! This thing draws man...

Miamix707,
I sincerely do not understand your position towards all these liveries man. I've seen you say plenty of times that you're totally against white bodies, and they give you one fuselage painted with blue and red and you don't like it either...
What where you expecting, a cheatline? Man, West was using the cheapest colors in the publicitary market, not to mention that both their look and name gave the tropical Caribbean feel, thing that certainly they were not intending since they closed the focused operation in San Andres and moved it to Andean Medellin. This change was more than necessary.

Nice to hear from you!! I'm fine THANKS , dank je wel!!! and how are you?
But something that caught my eye is what appears to be an A320 in WCA's "old" livery in the main page... Weird...
Yes your right.... very weird indeed.. it also can be an B757... but it's definitely not one of their planes!!!
By the way:
One of their ATR's (HK-3943) has been grounded since last week after a flameout engine just after take off from EDR, all the seats are without the cover and everything inside is a mess. Don't know when it will fly again!
And;
if you look closely to the new livery of WEST....
no more COLOMBIA titles. Just like TAMPA!!
Anybody more info on this???
Wasn't there some rule that all Colombian based airliners had to show the COLOMBIA titles on their fuselage??

hola muchachos
Hola Southamerica, como te va?
Yes you are right, I think slapping a colored tail on a white aircraft is by far the ugliest visual trend, unfortunately here to stay. However there is something imaginative about the WCA font and the purple and green choice of colors that make it look different, exotic and tropical.. although the latter is apparently from what you said, not a good thing??
I'm glad everybody likes the livery, sorry I'm the only one who doesn't like it. Maybe if I didn't live in the states I'd think the change is better, it's certainly a more modern scheme than the other aircraft seen at Colombian airports. Honestly if i went to Colombia to take photos I would be interested in their current livery more, as well as the older looking schemes of LAS, Aerosucre etc, which while old, look very Colombian, exotic, and yes much, much more interesting
I just think these colors stand out more, and yes even look better. Some color on that fuselage and i'd LOVE this livery.

It looks very fresh. The former colors were very cheap, looked like some cheap small caribbean airline which operated 2 DHC-6 on inter-island fligths. These ones are more serious.

In my opinion, it looks very good, very modern, but it doesn't seem like a Colombian Airline.
Also today when we land in BOG, I saw in the AV hangar an aircraft painted with a yellow tail, and its belly blue, is this the new livery for AV? Or is just a leased AC for high season

I agree with Miamix707, it is a vulgar copy of United livery, but I really wasn't expecting anything better.

Perhaps, Still I won't give them a try If I can fly with AV instead even If I have to pay more, anyway none of its destinations attract me so there is no problem.

I am not sure about it, anyway, you know, if they could they would have written "Antioquia Federal" instead.

Yes RCS763av
I agree and I think that WEST is trying to focus more and more on the whole Colombian market and to become an keyplayer in it and compete with AV, Republica etc.. so they have to change their image from a Caribbean airline into (a future) bigger Colombian airline.
But they still have a big way to go!! look below!!
Avianca holds a 34 pct market share in Colombia, for the first half of 2004,
AeroRepublica with a 28.9 pct share,
SAM, with 10.2 pct,
Satena, with 8.84 pct,
Aires with 8.12 pct and
West Caribbean, with 7.87 pct
So I can understand their change

Well I've flown AV/SAM (BOG-Cartagena-BOG) and WEST BOG-MDE-BOG last june.. Both flights.. very good...very nice indeed.... even the pilot from WEST was so cool... we could enter the cockpit during flight and after landing it was all mine!!! jajaja and he was reading a newspaper in seatnr1....by the way he was from BOGOTA and is also the CEO or SEARCA.. que tal no???
BELIEVE AV, WEST, SAM and ACES.....10.000 times better than KLM!! you cant find any service!!

Just wanted to thank you for the Satena pics in that Let you sent and also thanks for the exclusive pics of the second 762 for QT.
Haven't had time to write an email since I've been very busy and took some days off around thanksgiving to go to the Caribbean, to Honduras, on TA. I'll post the trip report and my very negative opinion of TA later in the week.

DFW,
Go to http://www.wca.com.co , then hit "Entrar". You'll get a new window. In the bottom center hit "Saltar Intro" and then you'll get their main page. To the center right and bottom right you'll see two pictures. The bottom right is a Let. The center right seems like an A320

I think the livery is very nice, and very unexpected. I like this kind of surprises. I left Bogota last night and also saw a strange tail kind of red - orange near the Aerorepublica hangars at the bottom of 13 L. Unfortunatelly we took off at 13R, so I missed it completely. I wonder if AV has the sounding new livery ready for their 85th anniversary this weekend.

Some people will never learn.
Indeed, some will never learn to control obssessions... again the quoted user just looks plain ridiculous when he destroys his own arguments by asking the simple question: "Would you think the same if the airline were from XX part (not Medellin)? hahah how dumb.
Bogota and Tavong,
Thanks for your participation. For me it was also a pleasant surprise and ironically I haven't had the oportunity to see the newly-painted ATR myself. Let's wait and see, as it seems AV's new image will be the one to follow.

Nice to see another new livery although I do have to say I liked the colours of the older livery, turquoise blue & purple. Those colours were much more Caribbean like. The new livery reminds me of BonairExel while the tail logo reminds me of United Airlines' new tail logo.
The "W" on the new West Colombia livery looks identical to the new United Airlines tail logo. If they would have used the same colours as the older livery, it would have been better. But it's always nice to another livery flying around
