I am reading this old book (copywrite 1990) and it is called BECOMING AN AIRLINE PILOT. the author, "Griffin", is a pilot for Northwest. In this book, there is a table of NW aircraft they have and what is on order. This is old, seeing that it says they still have Convair 580's, but it said they have 20 A340's on order. Is this a mis-print??? I thought the only US carrier to even think of buying the A340 was CO?!?!?

No this is not a misprint. NW did order the A340 and did not take them. They converted the order to A320s.

Look for NW to convert the A330 orders to A340-300's in the near future.

I think Northwest Airlines will order the A340-500 or A340-600.

Northwest would do very well with A340s I think.
