Like YUL-YYZ, a 7 to 7 shuttle, but with flights every 2 hours. No doubt WestJet's quiet cutting of their frequencies on the route only days earlier has played a part in this announcement.

SG's Western Canada expansion plans will be announced next week, including new destinations. YQR & YXE? I wonder if some non-YYZ east-west flights will be introduced? I doubt it though.

I hope YYC-YVR will be on their Western Canada expansion list!

Do they have enough planes for this expansion?

Id Like to see YWG-YYC also in the expansion. This route deserves more flights and I am sure it would be a money maker. I think YYC-YVR will be added in this expansion as well as a YEG-YVR run to compete with Westjet and Jetsgo.
Does anyone think Jetsgo will make a city in western Canada another hub?

Shawn,
What exactly makes you think YWG-YYC would be a sure "money maker?" Do you have any numbers/facts to support your claims or is this another facet of your old YWG glossing? I'd have thought you'd be over the constant YWG glossing/boosting by now but I guess things have changed little over the years. Care to support your claims with some solid evidence?

P.S. I heard SG is thinking of making YWG their "western Canadian hub" lol!

Jeremy,
The facts I do have is the load factor on Both Westjet and Air Canada I do have at work. and the numbers are quite high for the YWG-YYC corridor. Starting next week AC is downsizing to 4 CRJ's on the route and right now every flight is sold out. Pearsonally I think it was a very stupid move to downsize to CRJ's when your A319's are full but I understand its part of the restructuring of the airline to do this. Westjet has 5 daily flights to the Stampede city already and Its a big money maker. I had a friend who flew YYC-YWG on tuesday and the flight was full so clearly this is a profitible route. Thats why next to Toronto, Calgary is the second busiest route from YWG.

SG already flies YEG-YVR.

I certainly hope not. It'd be nice to see SG actually do some point-to-point flying.

if not for the taxes (especially at pearson i hear) i'd always fly YOW-YYZ instead of taking the train or driving. as it stands right now, though, it's like paying the fare twice.

I hope YYC is in the expansion... YYC just opened the widened D concource... and the only aircraft using them so far is Jetsgo. I was towing Jetsgo in and out of the new gates for the Airport authority on Tuesday. I lucked out and got to be the first one push the first commerical flight outta there today, and again it was Jetsgo. Perhaps the CAA knows something we don't.

But again im just plugging my home city but it would be nice to put these rumors in the work place to a end.

I always shake my head when people seem to equate full airplanes with success. Just because they are full doesn't mean you are making money. Load factors for a lot of carriers are in the high 70's low 80's and they are losing cash by the bucketful. Yield is what matters.
