Hello,
I posted something about this before, and wanted to add to that, but its closed.
Starting after January 15, 2005 the 1:10 flight out of MAD and the 6:10 flight out of JFK will now be opperated with the A340-600, replacing the current EC-DIA and TF-ATI and ATJ.

IB is always switching a/c types at JFK. We've had them all in (B742, B743, B757, B767, A343, A346) at one time or another.....I miss the B767-300's.

The only IB 757 that I know of that came into JFK was one that was wet-leased from Air Europa painted in IB colors and that day Air Europa operated it to JFK for lack of their own aircraft. I was workin at JFK and freaked out when they mentioned that an IB 757 had just landed! LOL Had to go out to the ramp to check it out. Unfortunately I didnt have my camera with me. :-(

Ah!! I see Patrick found the plane I was talking about!! The picture is wrong though..it was not operating for Air Europe..it was operating for Air Europa. EC-GBX was wet leased to IB in 1998 until I believe 2001 when it was returned to Air Europa who later sold it to another airline.

Yes, sorry...while it was in full IB colors it was doing Air Europe work. While we're at it we can't forget about the IB DC-10's...i really miss those.

Iberia340600, thanks for the additional information about the plane!
Mike, no problem, I was only wondering because I read the IB timetables regulary (get them for free via the mail since a few years) and I never saw 757 service to JFK. Thanks for pointing that out, very interesting!

You forgot EC-IQR.
Also...the B757 was not a regular thing...it was just that once that it came in for Air Europa...and maybe a couple of times more but thats it. In reality it was an Air Europa aircraft painted in IB colors!

Why no B744 for JFK?
Most European airlines use this aircraft for this destination!
Flew on IB A343 MAD-JFK and very comfy plane, but the return flight was operated by B743 and was bad-kept and looked pretty old.
Hope they retire them soon.
Regards
Emilio.
