I was told today by a flight attendant on an ex-TW 757 that AA will be getting rid of the ex-TW 757s when the leases are up. Does anyone have more information on this?
When this will happen?
Will the fleet just be reduced, or will they be replaced with new 757s?
Another AA 757 question: None of the AA 757s I have been on lately (ex-TW or AA) have the new seats with the wing head rests... any plans to update the 757 seats, at least on the ones they're keeping, presumably the non-ex TW A/C?

The TW 757s can't be replaced with new 757s, since Boeing has closed the 757 line. AA still has more than 20 MD-80s stored in the desert, so these planes could come out, if needed.
My understanding is that the coach seats will be recovered in the same fabric used on the seats with winged headrests, but they will not be replaced until AA's finances will permit that kind of capital spending. That will be quite some time, considering that AA is deferring all of the 737s and all but 2 of the 777s scheduled for delivery between 2006 and 2010.
I do think that AA ought to replace the seats in the first-class cabins of the 757s. They just aren't very comfortable, compared to the F/C seats in the MD-80s.
