Ever heard of erosion? tides? Also add to it the recent waves of hurricanes, but every year, the beach comes and goes at SXM. Happens in many places. At FLL, or better, in Fort Lauderdale Beach, I think it is during the summer months (eg. May - Sept) the beach goes through a transformation, which in this case, causes the water to be very shallow for about 10 meters from the shore.
