Anybody know if how many of the 7-odd ex-AirTran Connect CRJs are still flying in the brown base colors with UA Express.
I will be in ORD this winter and wondering what are the chances they are still flying around. I have looked on the photo logs and there are some recently as October but I am curious of the exact numbers.
Plus anybody know when they are going to be re-painted?

Not sure of numbers, but when I was in Chicago less than a month ago, there were still a few (two or so) in the browns. A cool plane to see.

Some of them have been repainted into the new UA colors so as time passes, the more of them will be repainted.

I'm pretty sure the 10 that came from FL are being painted now...I believe 8 of them are done and the other two will be painted very soon. Those were the only planes to be painted before going in for any heavy work since they stand out like a sore thumb. I have to admit, I liked the Air Tran paint job on the CRJ. The nice thing about those RJ is they have leather seats and they came from Midway (JI). Having worked for JI it's awesome to fly on them again....it's like seeing an old friend!

Really? I thought Midway aircraft went to Mesa. Didn't Mesa buy their certificate and their planes? Or am I remembering incorectly?

I can verify that there was at least one at ORD on 11/28. I was unfortunately unable to get a registration.

Mesa was able to purchase some of Midways planes. We bought 10 right after they shut down after Sept 11. I can't remember how many CRJ's they had total. I'm pretty sure Mesa bought the aircraft after JI closed down for the last time after they were a US Airways Express carrier.

We have one left in creme colors. The higher ups told us that this last aircraft will not be painted in UA colors until UA makes up its mind about the ZW contract.
