Delta Airlines announce an increase of their flights to Liberia (Pacific North/West of Costa Rica) in the province of Guanacaste. The service will be non stop and daily (flights 366, and 295).
That is a great new for my country, because of the increasing of tourist to that important part of Costa Rica. That airport is also served by CO and AA.

US Airways begins Saturday nonstop CLT-LIR service on February 12.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

Northwest has been serving Liberia a lot longer then those guys, unfortunately the other US airlines now realized there is a market there. NW used to do it daily with 757's now just once weekly (saturday with A320's)
"Some People Just Know How To Fly"- Best slogan ever, RIP NW 1926-2009

No, he's not confused--NW has been flying to LIR (not Africa!) for a while. However, I believe they may have been charter flights.

From what I know, NW flies to LIR from MSP. I looked at a NW in-flight magazine and I saw LIR served to/from MSP. By the way, a great new for Costa Rica and Liberia in general, maybe one day it will beat SJO as the Costa Rica´s main airport!!??

Adam

I have the schedule:
Depart ATL 10:55am
Arrive LIR 12:47pm
Depart LIR 2:07pm
Arrive ATL 7:50pm
I will be served by a 757, the flight will last 3 hours 45 minutes and people holding Delta´s SkyMiles or other SkyTeam cards will receive 1585 miles one-way, 3170 miles per round-trip.
Hope this info i usefull, any mistakes, please correct me!

I'm flying into LIR for my honeymoon next month. We are taking AA DFW-MIA-LIR-MIA-DFW. The price was not the best, (450 each) CO was a little cheaper but their flight time was not ideal. I would rather arrive at 1PM than 7:30PM. Is DL even flying ATL-LIR right now? AA and CO were the only US carriers flying to LIR that I could find when I was buying tickets.

You're right Checo77.
Northwest Airlines flies seasonally to LIR from MSP. The airline has been flying to LIR since 2003. For the 2005 season, The 5:20 nonstop flight will be operated by an Airbus A320 (then I guess they used to fly the A319...) all Saturdays between Jan. 4, and May 1 (weird that none of these dates is a Saturday...)
yes, DL currently flies to LIR from ATL. They were the first scheduled airline to serve LIR, back in late 2002. If I'm not mistaken, they started out with like 3x flights a week. Great to know they'll add the 752 soon for the route. Question... do some of DL's 738's have winglets? we don't seem to have many winglets at LIR.
Talking about Delta in Costa Rica, they just announced that they'll fly, starting Dec. 18th, twice a day from ATL. They'll replace the once-a-day 763 ATL-SJO flight with two ATL-SJO flights, both operated by a 183-seater Boeing 752. More traffic at SJO is good... though is sad to see how all 763's are leaving... recently Martinair left to now operate with a Boeing 738 leased from Miami Air. And now DL...
