NW Boeing 742 Pax Gone From International Service?

I'm wondering where all the NW B742s have gone to. Ever since they have been replaced by the Boeing 744s on the NRT-HKG-NRT route, I have seen only two photos at PHL of an NW Boeing 742 chartering for the Philadelphia Eagles. When the NW B742s were removed from the NRT-HKG route, were they also removed from the LAX-NRT part of the route (LAX-NRT-HKG). Have they all been withdrawn for conversions to freighters? Or are they still being used internationally and I'm just not aware of it? Thanks.

They are still flying internationally on
LAX-NRT
NRT-GUM
NRT-SPN

Over the holidays they will also be flying additional frequencies on NRT-HNL, and additional flights to GUM & SPN.

7 are in active service still. They also do some charter work.

Several are parked just down the street from my place here in AZ. Marana (silverbell) has heavy jets in the desert damn near to the mexican border it sometimes looks like. As a 200.000 a year flyer, and most of that to the Orient I know I have spent a great deal of my life on these sad but still majestic queens. Philippine Airlines planes as well! extra sad as my wife and daughters loved these 742's because the upper deck was the "skybed" section... had 12 very nice bunks that you could sleep through the stop in HNL and never know you landed and took off. It's good to know NW Boeing 742s are still flying passengers internationally on scheduled service. These classic jets are fading fast from passenger usage, it seems like only yesterday every airline was using them...btw, Superfly, if I'm not mistaken, the DC-10 was replaced on SFO-NRT by the A332 something like three months ago.

With the A332s in service, it is unlikely that the Boeing 742 will return to SFO for passenger service. THose jets are nearly time-expired. They have got to have well over 100,000 hours of flying time behind them. I doubt these old classics are going to be favored over much more modern and fuel-efficient A332. The 742s are almost out of time for passenger service with NWA. Not more than 2 years left I'd imagine.

There are 17 in the fleet, but 10 are presently inactive. They probably won't officially retire them just yet because of the penalty fees associated with aircraft retirements

They have done a few equipment subs, but it is pretty much all A330s now.

They will be in the fleet until NW can finally get a few of the ex-UA birds. The A332 is just too small to handle the LAX-NRT-LAX loads so they have to keep the classic jumbos on the route until they can pick up some second hand -400s

Well, nothing is solid in that camp. According to what I heard a few weeks back, the company that owns them apparently wants more than NW is willing to pay for the lease rates.
