Travolta buys Zeppelin for christmas
December 12, 2004, 10:59:34

Hollywood superstar and aviation enthusiast JOHN TRAVOLTA has bought himself an $11 million (#6 million) Zeppelin airship for Christmas (04).

The PULP FICTION star, who is a qualified pilot, told wife KERRY PRESTON he "had to have" one of the eight ton flying machines after spotting it in a festive catalogue from American department store NEIMAN MARCUS.

A source says, "John was blown away by it and told Kelly he had to have one. He can't wait to fly it, but she's told him he won't get it until Christmas day."

The airship will be the third plane 49-year-old star owns.

He already has a $83 million (#46 million) Boeing 707 and a Gultstream executive jet at his Florida home, which is designed to look like an old-fashioned airport with runways, arrivals hall and a departure lounge.

Where's he going to keep this blimp? And no wasn't referring to Kelly (i don't believe she's fat yet).

I was wondering if he was going to keep it near Ocala like he does his other planes.

"Where's he going to keep this blimp ?"

Actually a Zeppelin NT (=New Technology) is not a Blimb ! That is why asked above what he is gonna buy.
For some more facts about the airship check out their Website :

P.S.
I wonder if Travolta has a type rating ? Big grin

The requirements for airship pilots differ from country to country. In Germany the applicant should already have a commercial pilot's license including IFR certification either for airplanes or helicopters. Such a pilot will then have to complete at least 50 hours of flight training with the Zeppelin LZ N07 and intensive theoretical training before he is given an airship pilot's license by the Luftfahrtbundesamt, the German Federal Aviation Authority. orities) airship’s pilot license with Zeppelin type rating.
