I'm flying on Zoom Airlines in January, and am curious about their aircraft history and maintenance. First, I could only find photos of two aircraft, C-GZMM C-GZUM (as pictured above). I've seen mention of a third, did they ever get another? Also, from my research both of these aircraft are originally from Air France:
Both of these aircraft were delivered to Air France in 1993. That isn't too old for 767's. Were they replaced in AF's fleet with Airbus aircraft? Did Air France maintain these 767-300ER's well? Next, how about Zoom. Do they keep their (from what I can tell) 2 aircraft well maintained.
Any other suggestions for those who have traveled with Zoom, that'd be appreciated too (do I need extra life insurance?).

Air France only operated five B767-300ER and replaced them with more efficient A330-200. You can be sure AF maintained the birds well, and no doubt about Zoom doing the same. Don't worry.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think AC does maintenance for Zoom. Now, I don't know for sure. All I know is in YYC when mx was being done on a Zoom aircraft it was AC that was doing it.
Makes sense to contract out to AC. Zoom being too small to have their own mx and AC having tons of experience with the 767.
If AC does the maintenance than you have nothing to worry about.

Zoom has in-house mechanics in YOW and YYZ and contracts out help every while and then to Wright International I believe. C-check on ZMM was to be contracted to AC but RM didn't want anything to do with it so the contract went to a firm in Los Estados Unidos.
ZMM and ZUM are the only two planes in the fleet for now. G-BYNS is due later this month.
The biggest two delays I've operated on was:
1 hour in CDG: Horribly slow boarding process due to sleeping bus drivers, shut down Walkie-Talkies and the ground crew did not follow the cargo load sheet correctly.
45 mins in YYZ: Door shut 10 mins early but the bridge would not retract. An outrage for the price airlines pay here in Missisausage.

Air France had an obscene variety of aircraft families at the time and wanted to stream line from 6 (A310, 763ER, A340, 772ER, 744 and 747classics) into 4 - (A332/A343, 772ER/773ER, 744 and 747classics).
That is only a 200ER, while the other 2 aircraft are 300ER's.
Finally, given this is a relatively unknown airline, anyone have more info than the website provides? For example:
"Zoom Airlines Inc. was incorporated in May, 2002 by a team of industry veterans with extensive travel and aviation experience."
Who are these industry veterans? Maybe AC, given that Cessnapimp mentioned an "avoidance" relationship with them? I know I've got that attitude given the service I have been subject to! I'm not out to start AC bashing (as most Canadian's seem to love to do!), but am curious what these Zoom "veterans" are claiming as their experience.
Thanks for the good response so far! I'm eager to learn more.

Air France also flew DC-10's, although not very many (1?)

It is true that the interior has shown it's age. ZUM had been completely transformed with regards to the seat fabric, with the premium economy seats now fitted with leather and the economy seats with new fabric in Oct. ZMM also now has the front fitted with leather, but the rear will have to wait until it's "C" in April I believe.
Who are these industry veterans? Maybe AC, given that Cessnapimp mentioned an "avoidance" relationship with them?
LOL! That's pretty funny... no, we're not affiliated to AC, we're a private incorporated firm.
That is only a 200ER, while the other 2 aircraft are 300ER's.

Heh, pardon me that and yes Manu, by G-BYNS I meant G-BYNS of Excel. It will be arriving in YUL sometime this month for a brief 4.5 month stint (until April) after which it will be replaced permanently with an ex-KLM 767-300ER. That one will make it the third perm addition to the fleet with the fourth coming Jan '06, also from Royal Dutch.
If you have other (more tech) questions to ask me Manu, don't hesitate to PM, I'll be glad to answer your questions.

I couldn't find G-BYNS in the database, only G-BNYS. I figured it out using google, after someone else made the same mistake on a review and then subsequently searching Excel's fleet roster. I guess I'm bored... lol.
Thanks for the witty response! Nice to see someone with my taste of humour here.
